At precisely one o clock in the morning of Saturday 1st March 1943 , Heinrich Himmler , Reichsfuhrer of the SS and Chief of State Police, received a simple message . The Eagle has landed . It meant that a small force of German Paratroops were at that moment safely in England a poised to snatch the British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, from the Norfolk Country house near the sea, where he was spending a quiet weekend. *

Come with CiA to the village of Studley Constable to find out more……

You and Chommers!

The above are just the thoughts I had about a TEHL game after getting the date from Josh - it's there to be used or ignored as you like (CW asked me to repost it ) :D

Also CW reckons the site is too small to play the above complicated NPC game on , that's cool by me too, :D

Come up with sommit good, & I'll focus on the Ostfront game for now !

Right - is the site suitable for TEHL?

Synopsis:
Hitler wants to kidnap Churchill.
Plot hatched, team chosen.
German paras land in UK dressed as Polish.
Walk into village and cut it off undetected.
Irish secret agent facilitates subterfuge.
Gets found out by girlie - Jenny Agutter HOT
Word gets out to local US unit.
Germans get holed up in church with hostages.
Germans release hostages, remove disguises and fight to death as falshies
Anti-hero Caine carries on mission alone
Kills Churchill - not.
End

We have no village, chuch (or pub!).
Cross dressing Germans would be a pain.
Not much fighting in film, what there is is mostly in the church.
One man dominates all the action.

On the face of it not much left.

But, if we are happy to lend the title of 'The Eagle has Landed' to a game set in East Anglia where German paras aim to kidnap Churchill (who is on a weekend painting break in the country) then fair enough, let's do it!

Yes I think the loose plot would be best. Just go for the title, it's something that people can get talking about and it's a hook to hang our game off.

We can use some of the scenes in the film as basic sub-plots (ie: stop the female informant shopping you into the US forces)

We need to have a think about a firmer game plan and sub-plots and what sort of props we can fit into it. Being a game set in the UK it could be a little bit prop thin, which have made a large part of our games in the past.

I'm inclined to agree. As Stephen puts it, " it's a hook to hang our game off". How many "Black Hawk Down" games have we had at sites here that are anywhere near what it was in reality? fuckloads.

People know what The Eagle Has Landed is - and that alone is enough.

Regarding props, thats a good point. Is there a building on the site we can deck out as a church (plywood steeple anyone?)

When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

Great , basic concept now marked out .

Can we now get some marketing and bodies booked , if need by via PM. Suggest same as before , full cost up front , you drop out you sell your place. also suggest get it in now before they all book for Varsity .

We've got nearly four months to worry about the game, which is 3 months and 29 days more than it probs needs

Heh, someone is panicking!

I'll put together a marketing package and we will launch by this weekend, if that's OK. I don't want a half-cocked launch like Varsity where so much was 'to be announced'.

Just watched the film. Not bad. Not great either.

This is going to be a weird one to wrap a game around. Will have to have a think.

Stephen - are you available for a meeting this Saturday? I'll be over at Coventry getting James back to Uni so can call over. It'll save me two of three hours putting the game plan down on paper, takes me ages to write down thought processes and it's one of the hundred things I didn't have time for over the 'holiday'....

Nope, otherwise engaged this weekend I'm afraid.

Alternatively could a phone call do it?
