Given Guy's very valid comments yesterday regarding the difficulty of creating and detonating in-game pyrotechnics I think it's worth having a discussion to see how we can overcome the issues and find the most effective method of doing this.
Also, given the fact that two of the guys were lying next to a 'blind' smoke (hence I went over to move it), we should also go through our safety rules a bit!
Aye, good idea. My thoughts, in no particular order.
1: The soft ground took a lot of the force of the charges, we need some chopped up gas cylinders and the like to dig in to funnel the debris out in one direction.
2: We need to use marked off areas for things like demo'ing trucks and the like - total exclusion zone for players
3: Rigging the pyro is a pain in the arse, and takes 3 times as long as you *think* it should.
5: 1 fuck-off sized set of pyro's going off that all can see would be a damn sight less hassle than numerous smaller displays - and would look more impressive.
6: Could we set up some standardised wiring looms? - would be a lot easier than cutting all the wire to length, not to mention quicker
Other thoughts later, as they occur...
When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........
Probs I saw were
1 Lugging all this shite around all day , i did little else on the afternoon
2 getting players in the right place at the right time to see it
3 did players enjoy it for the effort involed.....no one has mentioned it on 8 pages of "after action report"
4 Radio fired pyro might be easier and quicker to deploy although would incur a considerable outlay , plus D10 is a bithc ot work with .
5 Feel more in game pyro , ie single Nathas depolyed with a clacker and a line in front of advancing troops , or more use of hand held deployed, a box of MK 9s and Boat smokes could have been more usefull .
I'd favour the dug in/buckets with debris and smoke off a line rather than handhelds detonated off a clacker or big battery.
Easier to lay then.
Either that or set pieces like at the beginning of the afternoon which worked well.
I don't mind stepping out of the game for this.
That's the problem, we don't have enough people to step out of the game as we found out in the PM . Jay was left on his own for most of it whilst I cocked around with the bombs . That was after we all wasted two hours laying the cables and digging holes the day before/ during lunch .
