The site is approximately 80 acres of working sheep farm on the north edge of the Brecon National Park in special forces country, bordering the Black Mountains. Peny-y-Lan farm, Glasbury, is about 7 miles south west of Hay on Wye and 2 miles from the village of Velindre.

Terrain is mixed & includes streams, rivers, waterfalls, open fields with tall grasses and a mixture of deciduous woodland along a valley.

From Hay on Wye take the B4350 heading SW towards Glasbury. On leaving Hay on Wye and passing the business park on the right, turn left sign posted to Llanigon. Follow this this road for 3-4miles passing through Llanigon and turn left sign posted by a brown and white sign to Newcourt Pony Trekking Centre. Carry on up this narrow lane for 900 metres and Pen-y-Lan farm will be found on the left where signs will direct you to the parking area.

Coordinates of road turn-off: 52.01.38N, 3.10.49W

Farm address: Pen-y-lan, Tregoyd, Brecon, Powys, LD3 0SS

There is grass field parking on site as well as plenty of space for camping. There is even fresh water and one or two buildings we can use.

This is pure infantry fighting across terrain used by generations of squaddies & toms on exercise. Anyone with experience of SPTA or Brecon will know exactly what we mean.
