gah, rain. Rain ain't fun. You sir are confused.
Anyway, I have already decided I am veteran of the International Brigades (explains the Mosin as a personal weapon), if that means I also have a personal Plash as a memento of my service, so be it.

Oy, that isn't fair! I only get to wear a crappy zelt. I wondered about taking my plash too after it worked so well in Feb.
Anyway, Metcheck is a bit more optimistic, rain but only fractions of a millimetre, although it migh tbe a tad chilly on Saturday night.
Anway, it wouldn't be a WW2 game if I didn't play it in the rain. Every single time....
Cheers
Martin

Zelts work well providing you waterproof them first. Thompsons Waterseal applied with a mini gloss roller works a treat
Which reminds me I have 2 more zelts to treat before the weekend or else my tents gonna be a little damp!
“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."

We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."

As a veteran of Churchill' Revenge and Devil's Hill, a bit of rain won't phase me in the slightest. Given the fickle weather of the area, it may well be blazing sunshine anyway!
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
It looks like just a smattering of rain at the moment but they all agree on the wind. The area we are playing is in the lea of the Black Mountains so I'm not sure if this will provide shelter or channel the wind and make it worse! So I'm playing safe and preparing for warmth primarily - thermal underwear, wool uniform, gloves, scarf & greatcoat.
Hmmm... if it's really windy it may make bolt actions unusable... which would be a shame.
The site is quite open in a lot of the areas isn't it?
Some open areas but also woodland and sheltered valley. As always, no way of telling whether conditions are good or not until we get there. Given the limited ammo supply sub machine guns will only fare a little better than sub 350fps bolties - I'm guessing most people will be sensible and switch to single shot (if they have it) so everyone will be pretty much in the same boat with regard to wind. The sub 500fps bolties may lose their range advantage altogether of course.
In any case, guile, planning, field craft and skills at arms will win out!

I was hoping it wouldn't have to come to that......
The forecasts now say it's just white cloud for Saturday and 9mph winds, so fingers crossed!

Forecasts are much improved now - looks like it will be an OK day, blustery perhaps but not a gale and not pissing down all day.
