For the regular army units do you have a source for the Royal Corps of Signals or 11th Cameronians (except the pipers) wearing the kilt?Douglas Tartan trews are worn but not with Battledress that I can find a reference to.
There may of course be soldiers from other units that could be kilt wearing but for formed bodies from these units BD Serge or 37 pattern would be most likely. Unless we have an outbreak of OR SD for the old and bold.
Yeah, this is 1941, not 1940 or 1939... there'd be less of that kilt nonsense!
Merely a concession for those with kilts to get them out again should they wish. This isn't a reenactment show remember. Every opportunity is given to enable people to attend with kit they already have, we do NOT require people to buy stuff specifically for this event, let alone buy badges. It has been a struggle to get enough players to make events viable in 2010. I don't see any change in 2011, another duff turnout and that could well be the end of CiA organised events.
I implore players (particularly those that attend public shows) to remember that CiA events are NOT and never have been about dressing up 100% correctly, they are more about a state of mind. Just like 70 years ago when what you wear are just work clothes. You are working, fighting for your life most often, not on parade. Those that can't grasp this principle just won't enjoy CiA events. Its a bit like those tutting over the dress of the youngsters on the 'Arnhem' TV prog - it just misses the point.
Indeed ...home guard will suffice.
This event , like many others is FACTION ......a bit of fiction mixed in with a bit of fact to make an enjoyable event . Hess was captured on landing , there was no rescue/assasination attempt.
Anyone found wearing a kilt will be condemned to the part of Frasier....wandering around saying " we're ahl doomed " for most of Saturday .
Finally on the subject of literature , read " The Ring Master" by David Gurr . It's fiction with a lot of very detailed fact that gives some clear portraits of a lot of the Hitler gang, including our man Hess. Can't recommend it enough , sex, Wagner, and Nazis......Kermit's idea of a perfect weekend .
Def. interested in this as it's so close
What are the weapon requirements / expectations for the event ?

Good point on the weapons front Joker, I'll post a sticky shortly.

That is what I was trying to support that plain BD and basic equipment as the work clothes of the units that could of been in the area is the way to go. It is a loadout that is not difficult to achieve and what is more I know I will have spare kit and weapons for that matter that I can help other players with if needed. I was just a bit concerned that the unit and kit information as given may have encouraged people to look at kilts etc be put off by the cost and then not sign up.
For the record: No-one should ever feel put off CiA events because of kit 'requirements'.
Those that have limited kit would be welcome, and, as Ramsay says, may be able to borrow from our generous members. (snigger)

I'll vouch for that! I turned up to Devils hill with nothing and was supplied with a full GIR load out and thompson by the regulars! these guys are very generous and helpful!

My stickied post on uniform requirements is there for a reason - it is the official game rules. Some players choose to take a tighter dress code which is perfectly fine. As in all Comrades in Arms games, players wear what they can beg, buy or borrow, the degree of 'authenticity' is up to the individual. As long as it fits within the bounds of respecting the game scenario and fellow player's effort to look the part then it's all good.
Ooh, 1941... Sten era....
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Ooh, 1941... Sten era....
But not for the bulk of the HG, re my query earlier ......................
The HG history/time line is a learning curve at the moment, but from what I've been able to research today, it was only mid-to-late '41 that some of the US/Canadian rifles were filtering through, with any decent firearms being sent to the regular troops.
There are various pics around of HG with Mk1 stens, and obviously Thompsons, Mk 2 Stens etc. later on but only in limited nos..
If I've understood correctly, in the time that HH is set, HG were only just coming out of the pike and pitchfork phase ?
Due to the uniform requirements, if I can get chance to attend it would probably have to be as FJ, but if I attended as British, it would then likely be as a Home Guard, in period civvies/mixed uniform and '37 webbing; I'm not sure, however, what the ammo rule is for a rubber bayonnet on a stick ??
> could maybe use an ACM Mossberg shotty, with 'fake' woodwork to resemble a 'trench gun', as per Heide's, on the basis it was a locally 'donated' weapon, or maybe any single-shot period looking/wood finish sniper rifle ?
Edit : Please feel free to correct any duff info . ...........

Aye, hold your horses for a bit, I'll post weapons stuff shortly. Safe to say ammunition will be the most restricted of any game to date with limited home defence issue and interlopers with no means of resupply. The game style for Horn is diametrically opposite that of Devil's Hill (where aggression and fire power were required by warring parties). And this will be the first game where shotguns will be de rigueur.
Denims ok then?
I'm a hero with coward's legs.
For Stens, from what I can see, the MkI had come out earlier in the year, but at the time of this event the MkII wasn't produced yet. As Joker says its unlikely that the Home Guard would have stens.
Of course the No4 wasn't used by the HG hardly ever, if at all. The SMLE was taken off them early on to resupply a regular army that lost a lot of it's weapons at Dunkirk and they were given the P17 and P14. I'm not sure about the Thompson 1928... I'd be interested to hear what people have to say about that.
So the HG weaponry would be the P14 and P17 at this time... I don't think anyone has ever made an airsoft one of either of them.
So... we can't really get 100% accurate with the weapons anyway!
Personally I'll be using my SMLE as my primary weapon, with my 1928 tommy gun and/or sten mkii as a backup (kept in the car in case of malfunction)...
Of course a shotgun would certainly work well...
Jebus!!! Can we please PLEASE stop picking out the minutiae of detail and accuracy!?
No wonder some people think the WW2 scene is impenetrable. With all this discussion I'm beginning to wonder whether I'm going to be accurate enough to attend!
Sorry, accuracy is something I really love, as you well know, and I won't shut up..
Of course people are welcome to ignore me as much as they like... They should know that already...
Anyway if you read my post I do imply that since NONE of us can be 100% accurate, then we're all in the same boat...
