OK slight reshuffle of this thread .

Sadly SYA Proteus was unavailable for the dates that fitted in with the trainers, so the date for this has gone back to the weekend of the 18th/19th August and will be held at F&O's new site near Matlock
Cost £20

The day training itself will be on the Sunday , with a possiblility of low key camping either on the site or near it on the Saturday night .
The training will be organised by Stubblehopper and Sgt Heide , both well experienced in such matters, the exact course content ot be confirmed by them shortly, along with final confirmation of the site and cost.

Not a CiA event as such , but heartedly endorsed by us and no doubt we'll all be there . The last "German only" was great .

OK here's a brief heads up on what's going on with this, we've booked up for the weekend of the 18-19 August at the new "First and Only" site near Matlock as the Herr Major has already said, this is I believe a 70-90 acre site with bags of scope for what we want to cover.

What we want to achieve with this one is to cover "O" groups for officers and NCO's, patrols and ambush procedure, followed by section attacks on prepared positions . we will be allowed to dig shell scrapes for that.

We want to cover this during the morning. During the early afternoon we will practice on each other and spring formal and snap ambushes, the casualties will fall when hit, and play dead, so that we can send out searchers and do the job properly.

In the afternoon, we will carry out the attacks on prepared positions, the Herr Major will be simulating a couple of spectacular mortar attacks prior to the assaults going in.

On the allied side we have Gadge and Morgs doing the training, Gadge is an ex officer and Morgs is still in the Army. On the axis side we have myself and Sgt Heide, both ex infantry instructors, we may even have a little help from the Fallschirmjaegers with an additional instructor in the form, of major.

We're hoping to field at least two sections from both sides for the afternoon battle, when we put what we've learned into practice. So get your names down on the list, we want one Brit, and one US section. One SS and one Gross Deutschland.

This is it fellas, the casualties on both sides will be high during the assaults we want to see who has the grit and determination to win the day and be best troops in the field, is it going to be the allies or the axis?

Definately up for this but can i add that I was never commissioned just sponsored by the regiment. My back injury prevented be from getting a commission.

I trained for the job just didnt get round to doing it.

I'm going to try and swap my callout so I can come on this one. Chris, what's the latest on camping, or where is everybody staying Saturday night?

Two questions:

1. What's the exact location and directions for the site?
2. Is there camping onsite, or is anyone staying at a Travelodge Sat nite?
