Excellent vid. By the looks of things you guys picked up quick on the training lessons.

One thing I will say though, Germans, in the patrol at the start you guys were covering the wrong arcs, if any. Some guys in the middle looking straight forward and chap at the back looking left when he should be covering right ;)

I was looking left because thats where they were  and we were told to get wiped out

Just because you're told you're all gonna die anyway doesn't mean you should go slack on your patrolling skills :P
Afterall, with crack skills there's a chance you could spot them before the ambush is sprung, in which case you initiate the contact and attempt a withdrawl...

I spotted the German Ambush when we were walking down the path, after talking to the brass it was seen the best Idea was to carry on down the path and give them a chance.

its was good all round, the best bit for me was the final assault, i hate to say it but the alllies may have JUST won it

running through a supurb smoke screen, i saw barry and anne, and gadge 4 feet to my left, i got about 10 rounds off from the hip, (god knows where they went), then me and lewis were mown down , fandanglos and another guy were following up with bolt actions ( what balls that took, chargeing a bren with a rifle  ) we even got hit from the front from another allied guy at the exact same time, (sorry i dont remember your name mate)

really good game , and really good training, and brilliant effort all round

barry your bren is great i took a round in the thigh , and its still got a lump like a golf ball

also, during the ss ambush, when the searchers came out, id been "playing dead", i sat up to shoot, and got bladdered back to the floor by to excelent bursts from the searchers mp40s, (maybe took some rounds from the ambush party  )
so id been shot to Shite all day, but still had a great time

i got a cracking clip of the major getting shot wile photoing an ambush, and his sense of humor faluire

also got some good videos of Lewis, (great enthusiasim)

ill post it all up as soon as i can, at work now though

Yea you really didnt have much chance, although when we did it, the Germans forgot about the 2 of us who were much further forward than the rest! We circled around the back of the Germans and opened up, only to be sniped by Sy intentionally not taking his hits.... :? Don't think he knew to though! Afterall it would be silly to let the Allies win hehe

To add to Johns comment

I as incredibly impressed at how muchg was assimilated as the guys compressed what shoudl be weeks of training into a few hours to be fair.

Yep, we didn't cover contact and withdrawal (next time maybe?). I scraped the surface of anti ambush but the purpose of the training was to allow ambushes to be sprung and for follow up snap ambushses to be laid. The "ambushees" job was simply to bimble in and get mown down. As people get more proficient, I agree that if an ambush IS spotted before it's sprung, a withdrawal or an initiation of contact should be done.

I think we've stumbled upon what to cover on a future training day anyway.

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!

Think that happened with all groups  someone within each one was spotted, I dunno who it was that spotted Fandanglos in our ambush but they hadn't seen me and was waving their arms to signal his presense with their hand feet from my face  I so wanted to shout bang  but daren't move cos I'd have been hit way sooner than I was

Has to be said though to compare the camouflage techniques of those on the training day to CR the only other event I've done, it was def a lot more hard work spotting the allies. The camming up of faces and helmets does make you harder to see ;) Though I shouldn't be telling you guys that really huh

Oh and when you say you were up front were you one of the merekats we were told were in sniper positions ? was so comical seeing them both pop up  and the person hit was steiner and he took it

A fair reflection on the Tuition! :)

I didn't see you, but apparently If you had've stretched out your arm from the long grass u were in u could have grabbed my hand as I was signalling that I'd spotted some1 a bit further back :)

 it was fern, Ewart was sat further up the road in a similar position

So who were the two stragglers in your group ? Think in hindsight even though we were spotted we should have made you regroup at the far end and walk back down the road the gap in the group meant some of us were pretty much useless to the rest of the ambush  , by the time we were told to fire there was a considerable gap in the patrol group and I only managed to shoot I think the 2nd to last person and ewart got the last blighter , rest were realistically too far out of range for the mp40 from where I was positioned :( though I did have a damn good go at peppering you before your comedy fall to the ground  and wasn't alone in aiming at you

i spent my whole time in our ambush fireing blanks

i filmed some of it , and couldnt use an aeg so i just made some noise, and atmosphere,

i did get a great clip, over the sights of the p38 , lined up on allied troops in the ambush, ill try and post the german ambush tonight. (truthfully not as good as the allied one or the SS, but thats probably down to me and lewis in our "men in black" outfits  , sorry

Gotta say I think everyone did really well considering the time we had to pack everything in, we had to cut out quite a bit of stuff to be able to squeeze everything into one day. I think the highlight for me was not the ambushes which were good, but to see the two German sections led by Steiner and the Sturmbahnfurher, moving forward "One foot on the ground" style, silently and in bounds upto the safety line for the mortar bombardment, seriously, regular soldiers could'nt have done it any better, it looked good and actually worked as a platoon movement technique. All I can say is very well done, because it is quite a difficult job keeping control of a full section on infantry, especially if you've never done it before, as for the guys in the sections you looked and moved great, I was in the middle of both sections and you looked like silent ghostly figures moving throught the mists, well impressed!

yeah felt that, I jumped out in the middle of the road, BAR poised at my hip ready for some Hollywood style shooting, only to find that the full auto function had died :) Managed to get 2 shots off at the sky before keeling over, after carefully placing my gun on the ground of course ;)

Not had chance to yet, prolly just use more araldite, which stuck to the ally tube alright, it just didnt glue itself well to the actual receiver. I'll have another go at it,... It needs taking apart at the mo, Ste rekons my fire selector switch is catching on the stock on the inside, so taking it apart and shave it down a little.

This was one of the funniest moments of the day. I was lying dead in a ditch so I couldn't see anything. All I heard was "Donner und Blitzen!!" and several loud bangs (blanks), then a lot of automatic fire. I knew exactly who it was!

Also, who was it who surprised the body searchers with a live nade?
