The change over happened for most troops between July and September 1944.
Most troops jumped into France in the M42. Most, with a couple of exceptions jumped into Holland in the M43.
Basically the post Normandy refit was done with the M43.

You can use either for Normandy, though the folding version was perhaps the more common.
The later you go the more the folding tool takes over.
Which ever you chose they are a pain in the back of the leg.

No you are not. The T handle is the fixed blade. The straight shaft has a folding head.

If you are airsofting then the e-tool would be the last bit of kit I'd buy.
That and the crappy repro yellow gloves.

They are, respectively, very nice for taking a dump in the forest and cold winter games.

the T handle is more suited towards putting in the back of the '28 haversack, as its the only decent place to put it to play in without it being in the way too much!

I'd get the folding jobby, and only keep it with your admin kit, so if you need to take a 2 in the woods, you can grab it quickly..... keep it off you're playing kit unless you're requested to have it for a game. Some games will have you filling sandbags for no need what-so-ever! :good:

There's always a very good reason... you may not be told what it is, but there'll be a good reason.

And an even better reason when as soon as you've filled them you're told to empty them again, move to a new location a few metres away and fill them up again.
