Ok i'll do that.
Just read your post again and regard something that you wrote that one sanded the leather and then soaked it. I didnt sand mine only applied the unboiled linseed oil with a paintbrush and it worked fine! Not to bright and not to dark.
Best regards

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.

Leather dye... Apply it after the holster has been rubbed down...
You can get it at a GOOD cobbler. Or try ebay.
seriously boot polish, the strap across it is the same colour before polishing.
and that was only a light cote

I did mine with just boot polish (various - black & brown - don't forget the edges) and good use over a few years. I sold it just recently to a dealer at a military fair who thought it was an original and I could see the look in his eyes as thought he had found a bargain. Well, it was a good price for sure and I did put him right on the provenance. I bet he sold it for five times the price as an original.
I used nail polish remover to get rid of the rubbish orange colour, let it dry and then used brown leather dye from Timpsons followed by a good covering of brown boot polish. It looks awesome.
Following that, does anyone know how to tie up the leg strap? I know I've seen it somewhere before but can't find it now.
