How many of you wear jeep cars under your M1 helmets, as i am not sure about buying one, but i have heard that the M1 can become pretty uncomfortable after a while wearing it?

Does anyone have links to a reasonably priced cap, as i am after something that looks right rather than an actual repro, as i dont know how much use it will have, would something like this be acceptable?

With a correctly adjusted headband an M1 is very comfortable to wear but in my experience if you dont have a napestrap fitted(or a loose worn one)its a pile of crap and will not stay on your head at all-the napestrap is the key.

Wearing a jeep cap is ok in winter but you have to adjust the headband in order for the M1 to fit over the cap then if you decide not to wear the cap the helmet is then "too big" and the headband needs readjusting.

In game a jeep cap is far too hot under your helmet and tends to make your goggles steam up!

Like Taff says, the nape strap is the key. That's the bit with four poppers at the back of the helmet that connects to the head band.

Its very handy to have one, especially winter keeps the head warm,i sometimes wear it under my m1 helmet ,if i am wearing it all day games, does make it compfy, but like headshot says it will make you sweat after a while and steam glasses, but for a fiver it doesn't hurt to try it out,and see what you think is best

Excellent illustration there

To be honest the late war/post war adjustable nape straps are best as you can adjust them to get a nice tight fit as can be seen in the illustrated pic the non adjustable ones sag/stretch in time and serve no purpose. Also they come in different sizes i gather so that would probably make a difference

I always wear my Jeep cap under my helmet, I didnt take the Nate band out, but I took the leather sweatband out. I have a fairly large head anyway! To be honest my goggles don't steam up that much, and I run around quite a bit.

I used to wear one under my helmet at reenacting and its bloody hot, HBT cap goes quite nicely and was cool.

And dear boy a good G.I doesn't need to look at his rifle while he reloads it
