This is a pretty good starting point, and exactly right for an SPR Ranger loadout.

That's our very own Webby in the picture there.
A very good addition to the CiA site by Mr Chomley-Warner.
Webby hasn't got the assault vest on in that pic has he? Don't buy the orange one from SOF
Show me a man who will jump out of an airplane, and I'll show you a man who will fight!

If you do buy thr orange one i belive if you wash it on a high heat it will fade the colours so just repeat it untill it turns the right colour, but dont hold me to that thyats just what i heard.
hey folks, i am thinking of getting an airborne garrison cap for the renishaw weekend, i will be wearing it with m42 jump suit for the d-day period of ww2, so would it be early, middle or late period parachute infantry patch on it? i am not sure when they changed them, anyone know?
Hey St. Matt, if you're struggling for places to get your gear drop me a PM and I'll send you some links
What kind of setup were you thinking of going for? And I am not wearing the assualt Vest on the pic (in answer to Speir's question) infact I dont think that it was just the rangers wore them during the landings. If you do want them from SOF, ring them up to order them, and specify that you require the version that is the correct colour, and not the "First Run" colour.
Piping on the officer's garrison cap is gold and navy, but yeah it looks gold from a distance.
Just get the red bordered badge on you overseas cap, then you can wear it with your M43s when you get them too.
good idea headshot, thanks guys.
One thing i never understood is why everyone has a healthy obsession with Rangers only wearing HBT's.
Also that guide says about if rangers could get jump boots. Thats a lie, rangers were issued them state side. The 2nd Rangers had a number of them but the 5th Rangers were completely issued with them.
To be honest if your going for the D-Day Omaha beach look get some wools and be a 5th Ranger. Far more of them landed at Omaha (infact the entire battalion landed there) in comparison to the small number of 2nd Rangers.

I agree mate, wools are the way forward. I'm guessing it's cost that stops people buying wools (mine cost me £80!!)

Sorry fella, but the Kit guide is for 2nd Rangers so you've just contradicted yourself there.
You need to read the kit guide properly, Rangers were known to wear their HBTs over the top of their Wools anyway, but for airsoft, it's inpractical to wear so many layers.
2nd Rangers were issued jump boots state side as well but not everyone had them.
And not being offensive mate but i reenact both battalions and have read what they were issued so please don't tell me what they wore.
Again coming to HBT's some 2nd Rangers wore them as they had larger pockets and were more practical. In fact some rangers got hold of M42 Jump Trousers. But a fair few 2nd Rangers and all of the 5th Rangers wore the standard wool shirt & trousers per regulation.
I'm not trying to tell you what they did and did not wear.
The kit guide is meant for airsofters, not hard core re-enactors like yourself, to be hoenst I wasn't expecting my kit guide to be stitch counted like that, and the fact that the information on there wasn't 'a lie' also is a bit of a pisser. If not all of the 2nd Batt had their Jump boots on deployment, surely they would be sought after by those who didnt have them? And in the guide it says the Ranger's often wore their HBTs over the top of their mustards,... so I wasnt saying all of them replaced their bottoms.
If there is something that you think is unaccurate about the kit guides then send us a PM and we can change it, not chastise it on an open forum.
I know its for Airsofters.
Look the way i see it is, even as airsofters if you gonna pay out all this money to get the stuff you might as well get it right. Ive spoken to a few airsofters and their concern is to get it right, maybe not to the extend we do as reenactors but damn close.
Agreed, but when the kit in the guide is correct, why make an issue out of it. If I had been wearing my roughout boots in the pic, and you said all the rangers were issed with corcorans, then it would have been inaccurate.
Personally I prefer wearing my HBTs instead of my mustards for airsoft because the stitching in the seat of my mustards isnt very good, and keeps ripping (no fat jokes) Plus I wear em for my Marine impression

Hear hear! You get my vote. Why fork out cash for something that's not correct when the same money will buy you something that is?

I dont see what the problem is, the ranger guide is accurate as the bog standard ranger, sure if you could get your hands on Jump boots or jump trousers of course you would use em, but the guide is for the bog standard 2nd ranger who like you said wernt fully issued jump boots, also the thing about mustard trousers is they are exspencive and not as practical for airsoft, i much prefer my HTB's by themselves which is why so many people use them, remember this is airsoft not reinactment not everyone knows everything.

again... agreed.... but it's not incorrect!
As a calming voice of reason, and a forum mod, I think it's best if we leave the discussion about Webby's Ranger outfit in the kit guide there and move on to pointers for people who perhaps haven't reached the level of accuracy that he has.
This forum, and the whole WW2 Airsoft movement, is intended as an introduction into the WW2 themed airsofting world, not as a platform for ripping people's impressions apart. Please try to keep comments to a constructive level.
Nuff sed.
Many thanks

Hey guys, as i continue to put together my load-out im now looking at webbing and its variations. Im using a thompson so the garand belt is not needed.
Where is the best place to get a complete set at a resonable price? Been looking at sof, ATF, WPG. Anyone else know of any one else?
