Quite often the case is that the clones are better made than their originals, but the insides are rubbish. Tm Thompson performs well but prone to breaking externally, cyma Thompson well built, insides made of string! Hehe

Have these actually made an appearance anywhere yet?

acmgear.com is still advertising them as pre-order and with an ETA of 10th of June!

While gaming, I've never seen a Cyma Thompson go down, except once where bad soldering between a motor wire and the trigger contacts had snapped. From my experiences with cyma gear, the gears are far better quality and strip less than TM too :)

True steel gears not chocolate :good:
Also far better FPS out the box a TM is junk out the box.
The only thing a TM bests it on is the metal finish.

I'd also put forward the Hop Unit for consideration. Owned both types, and out the box, the TM was far better on accuracy and range.

Probably just the rubber used they are cheap enough but range out of the box on a TM I find terrible. :?

whats all this to do with the clone BAR?
as for me, i have NEVER had a bad TM gun new or second hand, but also by CYMA tompson was a great gun too, it just diddnt look or sound quite as good as My TM ones, even though it was 370 fps out of the box and is still shooting great,,,my mate owns it now(but the wiring wasnt very sweet so we re wired it with better quality components :good:

I'm starting to seriously doubt that anyone is going to ever see these clones, the manufacturer Black Bear Airsoft's website is down ( http://www.bbairsoft.net/) and the principal far east stockist (http://acmgear.com/) no longer appear to have any mention of it on their shop site or forum, although I can't be 100% sure on that score as I can't gain access to any of the shop pages beyond the homepage regardless of which browser I use.

It's all feeling rather suspect and I'm glad I was able to resist putting in a preorder.

Fair enough, things were not helped by the fact that I've been unable to make many of the pages past the home page actually work. I did see that message when they posted it a couple of months back and still no further news of an actual release date.

That ACMGear page was dated Feb 2010. If the product is on the market we would know about it so it looks like it hasn't made it into production yet.
But....
Last quote I could find from Black Bear: "We have also got the BAR1918A2 in production and are looking distributors for this product. June 17 2010" and elsewhere a shipping date ETA 10th July 2010.

mid cap mags sound good! :good: fingers crossed.
I watched the Omega man the other night, hadnt seen it for at least 20 years, charlton Heston uses a BAR with an infra-red scope to shoot the "family" from his fortified appartment block (for those who have never seen the Omega man, I am the Legend was the book it was based on and was re made as I am Legend with will smith)

No, no BAR, but lets face it, things have moved on a bit since Heston with a BAR...it's now Smith with an M4 and like I said far better film. Anyway back on topic!!!
