I love my thompson so much I think I will use it as a "captured weapon" instead of my MP40

It just arived i quickly riped through the box and there it was, I was gobsmacked it was beutifull, the fake wood really looks good, it was alot heavyer than i thought it would be.

Beutifull gun only 2 gripes tho, the magazine goes in quite stiffly and is really hard if your left handed, also the ibggest gripe of all the front barrel wobbles slightly i was dissapointed at this because its supposed to be a very sturdy gun.

so how can i fix the barrel wobble ? anny ideas.

The mag will loosen up in time. They always start out quite stiff.

As for the barrel. Tighten up the grub screw on the top of the barrel, and/or replace it with a self-tapper that goes actually into the barrel rather than just pressing against it!

Failing that wait for it to break (or just break it) and get one of Headshot's fixing kits.

Mag is stiff (and hard for lefties, meh - freak!). Even now I hold the latch open to attach the mag rather than trying to 'slam' it in past the latch. Bit of silicone grease in the dovetail slot may help a little.

The slightest movement in your barrel will fracture the bottom monkey metal bracket - tighten it up straightaway as Yith says! (inherent design & construction weakness).

tighten your screws on a regular basis,

ive had my m1a1 for 8 months and screws are always vibrating loose, tighten in the morning b4 a game, at the lunch break, and at the end of the day.

and by the holy mother of kazan DONT OVER TIGHTEN, just nip em a little bit,

as for the magazine, i find it easyer to move the magazine catch by moveing the big block on the release leaver next to the mag, not by using the thumb recess.

apart from these issues, its a beatiful gun, and even when the fake wood gets scratched and pitted, it still looks great :)

hope this helps, anthony

Remember the mantra:

"Thread lock is your best friend. Thread lock is your best friend. Thread lock is your best friend."

Mag is stiff

Be thankful its not the wishy washy bullcrap they put on armalites... At least with the thompson you know for sure the mag is in right is is going to stay in!

On the question concerning upgrading; The only reason I got it upgraded was because at the time we were playing on a very flat piece of terrain with limited cover. Plenty of deep fields of fire and I kept getting outranged by other players.
Later, when we moved to a new location that was pretty much all cover I didn't really need the extra range anymore.

So let it depend on the location you go to to play.

mines got an m100 spring, and steel gears/ bushes. in my opinion, it was worth the investment.

once the sping settled in its doing 330 fps to 332 fps, so not over the +5%

also as i only use the standard 60 rd mags, short aimed bursts are needed.

i can shoot my m1a1 using black ammo and the sights (that really work well for a change most aeg sights are knickers) out to 50/60 metres and hit 9 times out of 10. great for sneaky play

ive not redone the hop or barrel there stock.

the increased range made the upgrade worth it. but as has been said, if you only play on a close in site, with lots of cover, its probably not worth the bother.

time will tell for you

Yea i have sorted all the problems i just stated and now i will gripe about the other stuff dilivered namely the battery and charger, theres no actuall problems with the things themselves just some small gripes, eg the instructions for the charger are all in french so there useless, and the batterie doesnt fit in the gun properly, it goes in but then the butt stock door doesnt close by just a little bit meaning it wont lock up.
I probably just need to mess around with the batterie a bit more but i have been trying to get it in there for half an hour now lol.

You will need to do a bit of work on the stock internally - take a look:
http://www.ww2airsoft.org.uk/php/phpBB2 ... .php?t=706

Can you put up a snap of your charger?

Yea i was afraid i would have to snap those because my dad wont look too kindly on me breaking somthing on the first day of having it lol.

Charger is an A2 Pro as i stated above
sry link dont work and its hard to find a picture Just go onto zero one go to the charger section and look for the A2 Pro 240v/12v Fast/Trickle/DischargerCharger, should be on the bottom left, i think ?

Look inside the stock with a small torch you can see the offending bits of plastic, stick a large screwdriver in & lever them so they snap off, the gearbox is easy to work on too, my tapet plate broke on one of my thompsons so I went mad & replaced everything, you can get most of the internals so no problem when parts wear out,

They just snap off, I like my M1A1 so much i skirmish it on non ww2 days now, the extra FPS of its 1 joule spring, new hop rubber & TN barrel give it the edge in woodland now

Great annother problem has arisen, after a whole day of firing the gun the battery ran out while i was on full auto, now thismorning after recharging the battery the single shot functions doesnt work, now it fires 2 or 3 shots at once ?, this is probably because of the way the spring finished up when it ran out of batteries yesturday, but how do i fix it ? or have i gone and broken it like i do with most things ?

Ah, you fitted your battery then!

Not a problem, Thompsons often do that, intermitently. It will fix itself or you may have to live with it (I'm sure someone more technical can give the answer why) - mine doesn't seem to anymore but it did at one time!
