Hey, just ordered one of these from gunner, and from what I can tell from here and elsewhere, they are cracking wee guns.

I think I asked somewhere before if the weaver scope mount is detachable, and it is, but how could i get a hold of/fashion some irons for the gun? I've never been a fan of scopes (being taught to shoot in the RAF through irons, probably) and I really want to have a backup to my gas Garand.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Helston gunsmiths do a range of iron sights, but they are fairly expensive. I`d make a V groove rear sight and a post up front. I haven`t had a close up look on the mp001 to advise how to attach the sights. If the outer barrel and receiver is metal maybe you could mount them with some small machine screws ? 8)

Somehow I knew you would, warren! I doubt I'll have it by the end of today, but if I'm up on sunday I'll have a look.

Cheers.

We've just got one of these from Action Hobbys.

It certainly shoots fast and has a smooth and relatively easy cocking action so you can keep up quite a rapid fire.

However, the bbs seem to go in pretty random directions, even with no hop-up at all.

General pattern is one excellent shot followed by a couple diving down and right then one going straight down almost like hop-up in reverse.

Anyone know if this is a common fault or is it that I just can't aim straight?

Good to know. Does it come with a ramrod? As an addendum, anyone know where I can get a Garand cleaning kit? What I'm really after is a pull through, I have the oil bottle and 2x2.

Good advice RhysD - have now stripped it all down and given it a good clean and it's now shooting much better. The circular plastic bit that supports the inner barrel, at the muzzle end, was also loose so I think there was a bit of movement in the inner barrel too.

Kavster you can get a Garand pull through here -

http://www.thegunner.net/shop/lespare.htm

EDIT - can't make it link to the right place - follow the above then click M1 Garand on the menu on the left.

and the MP001 does come with a barrel cleaning rod, plus a decent speed loader and half decent nylon strap.

easy to strip yes... to fit in ww2 stocks not really. i could have done it but in the end i did a join job with the front of the springfield and rear or the mp001. the trigger mech and mag mech are a shade wide so i was worried that dremelling all that out would weaken the stock to much

I was thinking about tha, and asuming they are the same as my SMK /VSR Clone I was going to get some sheet metal to line the hole just to strengthen the stock and stop that happening.
