Hello guys,
I have been playing Medal of Honor: Airborne a LOT lately! Other than the gas-mask-wearing, MG42 wielding Nazis, and the gas-mask-wearing, Panzershreck wielding Nazis, its decently accurate and fun. On the mission "Operation: Neptune" (Keep in mind this is a game about US Paratroopers in WWII) one of your objectives is to find and collect all pieces to the "M18 Recoiless Rifle". I was looking at it, realizing how easy it could be to make one for Airsoft. A huge grenade launcher! I ask this:
Is it real?
Accurate?
Would a US Paratrooper have one? (My impression of choice)

Thanks,
The Merchant of Venice

I don't know, really. A prop one could be built. Really, its just because I'm crazy (not mentally) and like to come up with nutty ideas. Your right, other than a waste of time, it would make a nice prop.

would be cool if it could fire mos's shells. be quite useful in clearing a area and killing a vehicle. it wouldn't be out of place as you would have to seriously expose your self to fire those many rounds in one shell.

gets a thumbs up from me. and a note on that mission that tank circling is a right bastardo killed me like times lol

Yeah but wernt the germans the only ones to have a working recoilless rifle small enough to be used by ground units by the end of the war? The closest the US infantry/airborne had come was the Bazooka.

I might be wrong though, and if you want to make a german 75mm/105mm RCL they were used from crete and onwards.

Perhaps. I'm thinking a Panzerfaust would be cooler, however.

Yeah, a 'faust would be cooler. if it runs off 40mm mosies, you could use nerf rounds for TA and 180rd showers for AP.

The problem with that RCL is that 1)How do you define late war, & 2)It limits the possible uses. a 'faust or FJ RCL can be used for any ETO/Mediteranian/N Africa battle.

It might be cheap, like the real Panzerfaust!

I'm thinking this might be cool.

M18's were seldom seen till 1945. MOH Airborne isnt great for accuracy hehe.

The only paratroopers to have them would be the 17th Airborne Division in Operation Varsity

As a prop it may have some interest - collect all the bits as part of a mission for either sides . Without raising it all up again , firing pyros from tubes is on dodgy ground , both legally and H&S wise (please people don't follow this post with an repeated debate about this again, it been discussed at length before) , firing paintballs is also dodgy and not something that could be used by anyoneother than marshalls , as for MOSCARTS .....TBH you'd be better off with a support weapon IMHO

Having built and used a fair bit of artillery , the safest use "in game" is as a prop , pyro down the barrel to simulate firing , and commanded marshall pyro deployment to simulate barrage. And if you're doing that it's probably at your own game

I am thinking this:
-Prop recoiless rifle. My uncle makes his own fireworks so were set with pyro.
-Real use Panzershreck/faust. NERF.
-I'm in the US of A so I've got nothing to worry about when it comes to legality. Of course H&S is a top priority.
-I consider myself a prop maker so I can easily get some help from my pals on my favorite prop-making forums.

If you were absolutely desperate to get it to fire something you can get M203 style rounds which fire about 120 bbs in one shot and use gas. If you fitted the necessary barrels inside the M18's barrel then it would deliver a nasty and reasonably accurate barrage...and be bloody painful. Is that an option?
