Anybody know if you can get Artarms gun Blue in the UK?
A guy called classic arms over on the US Board uses it to age his weapons, and they look pretty amazing:
AGM MP40

WE Luger

Aparaently unlike the real stuff this blue will stick to the metal used in chinese airsoft weapons.

You could achieve that effect with 400 grade wet & dry, they don't look blued at all to me,

LOL it does look like he's really just wankered it with some really vigorous rubbing. If you want it to look like the original WW2 finish Baggies suggestions do seem the right way to go, as opposed to something that now just looks over 60 years old and seriously unloved in my opinion ;)

The MP40 looks blued as opposed to the mat paint just rubbed down but the luger may have just had a rub as you say.

The stuff looks ok to me but hard to find an English site for it and it is a spray :good:

I tried some of this on my part of my S*S Sten, which is pretty much pure aluminium from what I understand.

The results were not at all satisfactory.

It went on very unevenly and then scratched off far too easily.

I put the part away for a week in disgust. When I can back to it, half the blacking had become a powder and just brushed off.

Suffice to say the rest was worryingly quickly "wire wooled" off and the whole thing has been coated with plasticote aluminium primer and GW Chaos Black spray paint, which looks great and seems to be staying on at the moment. But then it's only been carried gingerly around the house so far.

Yes thats the way I have found most bottle gun blue treatments to work but if this Hard Blue is new it may be worth a look at.

The trick with the tubs of gun blue/black is that you need to rub the surface down with wire wool then de-grease it completely. If there is any oil or muck left on the surface at all it will streak like a git. I've found the best way to be white spirit with an old toothbrush then washing it in the hottest water with washing up liquid that your hands can bear, then rinsing with hot water and drying with a clean tea towel. Once dry, apply your gun blue/black, then, once it's changed colour, rinse again in hot water and apply oil/WD40 immediately. I've done a few K98s this way and had top results :)

That was before...

Since I had to take it apart to find the electrical fault yesterday I decided to also repaint it.

It's all sorted now.
