This is the monkey I use, never had a problem and all my batteries are in tip-top nick.
It isn't a fast charger but (it is my view that rapid charging and hot batteries shortens their life) but all my batteries charge quickly as they are never used enough to run flat so I am just topping up really. You can't over charge either. Bonus is if your admin is shite and you realise you haven't charged your batteries for a game you can plug it into the ciggy socket in the car and charge it on the way to the game!

Cheers CW that looks good. I think there was one of those for sale at Gothic on the weekend which I missed out on, bum.
There was, it was mine.
I only wanted a fiver for it, too.
Problem is it's damn heavy, so it's not really worth posting. If you're local to the Nottingham area, you're welcome to pick it up.
If Adam doesn't want/can't get it then I'll take it. I didn't spot it on sale or I'd have nabbed it.
i use one of these, it NEVER over charges my battery's, and i can decide how fast i want to charge them you can manually set the rate

Coincidentally, that's what i bought to replace the one i'm selling! The only reason i upgraded is because i needed a lipo charger and that does both types.

Argh!! No worries, I'm about two hours from Notts
thanks anyway, knew I should have bought it.
Haha, no worries!
In which case Lardy, it's yours, I'll bring it along to the next event I'm at, unless you're passing through at any point.
If you are using NiMh batteries then the basic one at the bottom of linked page is very good for not a lot of money.

If you look after your NiCds then no (i.e. make sure they are never discharged to exhaustion and charge by discharge/charge rather than top up) but NiMh don't suffer from the memory effect and are happy just to be topped up and don't lose their charge so much in storage. Having said that if you are using NiCds they must be some years old now! Modern NiMh have much higher capacities for given pack sizes and batteries aren't as expensive as they used to be so you might be doing yourself a favour buying new and keeping the old ones are emergency back ups - but look after them as well as the new ones else they will be useless when the emergency comes ![]()

Got to agree with chommers on changing to NiMh batteries you could get the charger I mentioned and a good NiMh battery from the same place for less than £25, which will last a fare few years if looked after. Plus if your using the battery that came with The gun you will more than likely need to replace it sooner than later, as they are generally naff batteries that come with Chinese guns, even if the Cymas are really good RIFS.

I'd say save your cash and put it out of your mind. No point replacing a perfectly good battery that most of the airsoft world use with no issues. (LiPo does have some advantages, particularly if you are short of room to fit a battery, but it comes with disadvantages too.)

I wouldnt bother with a Lipo for now, if you have a battery that functions with the gun there is no point. I'll just put some advantages/ disadvantages for the lipos if you're interested.
Advantages
Main advantage is that they can be small and still have large MaH's and voltages (so you could fit them in small spaces like in an MP40)
Smoother discharge rate- should improve the trigger response or possibly the ROF in your gun
Disadvantages
You can't run them until dry like you can with a Nimh- a Lipo will be damaged by this
Horror stories regarding charging where they catch fire
Very bad if water gets on them- again fire risk
You would need to buy a charger that can also discharge as well as charge
Hope this helps
You shulden't rule them out As an option.
I moved from nimh packs when all of a sudden 5 of the 6 packs i used stopped charging or even truning a motor. Evnthough on the voltmeter they read 8.8V.
Easy as pie to manage lipo. stick it in a fire bag. Plug into ballence auto charger. Sit and drink tea wile watching it its charged in 20 to 60 mins depending on size.
Even though ive used my ak stick lipos heavely on game days They are still going after a day and the lipo monitor is green. Even my mini packs are fine. But as there only 7£ each i have 2 of each and swap them at lunch (if i rember)
Never had any problems with my lipos getting soaked. also i have never had to discharge a lipo manualy. Other than useing it in The gun that is. the auto charger/ballencer sorts that out for me.
my setup came to About 18£ charger. 4x7£ for the battries if the battrys stop charging there creap enough to just dispose of and buy 3 more ![]()
But then again if you already have a large nimh there fine mine use to last all day and byond but then they died >_<
Meddy
If you want to know more about Li-po's have a look at this thread viewtopic.php?f=13&t=11963 I've started to convert to Ii-po's and I bought a imax B6AC battery charger which will do all types of battery for £20 off ebay

Again I'd go with chommers advice, if you've already got a 3300mah NiMh then stick with that and wait till you need a battery. A 3300mah will last a weekend film/Milsim easy. As the old saying goes if it ain't broke doen't fix it.
