What's the best airsoft garand? I'm looking to start on a WWII loadout...
ICS Garand.
Cheaper than the G&G, and mags are also easier to obtain, hold twice as many rounds (~40 rounds) and can be easily modified to fit a M1923 Cartridge Belt.
On the downside:
Early models had a habit of going full auto if you lowered the FPS - I believe they may have resolved this.
Bayonets wont fit as the barrel and gas tube are further apart than on the real thing.
Stock can crack at the rear of the receiver.
I second that, the G&G is very good and probably has the edge on cosmetics but the mags can be fiddly to fit at first, but OK with practise.
The mag quantity and the fact that I like ICS products more than G&G tipped the balance for me, also easier to work on should you have to do any.

Okay, so go ICS. Is that AEG or GBB?
That'll be aeg Max, gas? Don't go there unless you have a lot of patience.
And avoid the gold or chrome 8mm aeg versions
Am I the only one who uses the A&K version...?
The consensus is, for skirmish use, the ICS is the winner. It is a very nice AEG, but if you are after a more accurate replica, then the G&G is closer. They both have issues, but the G&G has less. The A&K is from a few feet a good replica, but there are issues, such as a fire selector and not so great wood work (worse if you have the plastic faux wood - obviously) and thick black paint. I have not used one so can't comment on skirmish side of it, but I do note that the magazines are held in place with friction only, which isn't ideal.
