Hello people that know much more about guns then me.
OK, we are in need of changing a spring in a No4 - simple enough task - except this No4, when you get inside, has a 'crimped cylinder', as opposed to the ones that can be taken apart that we all know and love.
Now this No4 is known to have 'APS2 internals', so we resolved to replace the cylinder with a new one. This looked good until we discovered that these things are, apparently, ridiculously expensive.
No, here comes the question:
Working through the codes and pointless jargon of the airsoft 'bits' minutiae I come across references that the APS2 cylinder is the same as the L-96, which are available. Now, is this the case? Or is it ‘massively more complicated fro no good reason’ then this?
We just want to get a weaker spring the thing.
if the l96 is a maruzen clone then its aps2 compatible if so then this might be of help

cheep as chips aps2 clone cylinder, there may be a difference in the part that the cocking handle fits to,some have a hexagonal fitting and others just a flattened side to stop the end from rotating if you understand what i mean.

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
a problem shared is a problem halved ,but an advantage shared is no advantage at all
if a job's not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well

That does look very much the same, will get inside and have a lok when it is dropped off for me.
Remember that the Classic army M24 is APS2 based also.
I think I have some spare M24 cylinders somewhere too.
its all to do with the OD of the bolt shank,
the aps, L96 and M24 are all differant (at the back)
we first used the aps, then we found that these were a little week for upgraded guns, so went onto the L96 as the OD is larger, so stronger,
this we have kept with, BUT of later i,m useing even better all steal cylinders,
and to make it a little harder, often costomers wanted top quality internals fitted, so aftermarket internals were fitted, ![]()
let me know what the OD on the bolt shank is and i,l see what i can do,
cheers
