Hi All,

My sten's mag catch fell off during the Battle of Brittany game. Does anyone know if we can get spares? Or if not any nice soul out there that can fix it for me?

Cheers

Indeed. It's possible someone could make a new part.

The problem probably was that the screw at the back fell out. They're very loose but are the only thing that holds the whole mechanism in place.

Do you have the mag catch parts still? If so it's fairly easy to get a replacement screw and put it all back together.

Looks like you've lost the mag catch retainer - A U-shaped piece of metal that goes i through the mag housing and holds the catch in.

Shouldn't be too hard to make, if someone has the material (steel). I don't, or I'd offer to make one for you.

For reference, it should look like this:

I can measure for dimensions if someone wants to make one but doesn't have a Sten.

Mate.

If you could take soem photos and make some measurments it would be very much appreciated, so I can try and find someone to make it . I'd buy a spare, but I dount there are any AGM spares out there - unless someone know different?

Cheers

Simon

+1 on trying Airsoft World.

I'll measure it tonight and make a drawing for you.
I'd rather not take mine apart, so can you measure or work out the screw size? Looks like M3 (assuming the chinese used metric), but I can't be sure.

Just phoned AW - they are going to have a look and see if the sten they are using for spares has one - so i have to ring back in a cople of days. In the merantime if you can get me a pic and measurements of the clip thast would be great. Is there a spring in there somewhere as well?

eyup fella,a tip for the future avoidance of things falling off use locktite on the parts

Yeah I picked up some theadlock for £2, the money it's saved me on replacement parts must be ten times that.

Acetone's the trick. It releases the threadlock. Just be careful about getting it on painted parts or plastic.

The part is made from 20mm wide steel, 2mm thick.
Dimensions are in mm. I don't know the screw size, but it DOES NOT go through the shorter side:

Fremsley, if you have trouble getting this part made then give me a shout. Dinzy is a steel fabricator and with that drawing should probably be able to make that for you.

Hey Jimbo and all.

Warren at S&S has made some already, so i've asked him for one. However, if it does go belly up i will take up your very kind and helpful offers.

Cheers very muchly.

you'll also need the spring that goes around the bolt on the top of the piece you still have. This gives the release catch its springyness (for lack of a better expression)

Had the same thing happen to mine at the Loop game, fortunately carly managed to notice it falling apart and located the bits!

Read that as "Had the same thing happen to mine at the Loop game, fortunately carly managed to notice me being a bloke, it falling apart and she saved the day, while I said "it wasn't me"!
