Has anyone done this? I would like to make my AGM Sten Mk2 into the MK2 S version. If someone would share what they did that would be great.

Thanks

I have done this, but haven't any decent photos yet. I have to say that it is definitely a cosmetic-only thing though, it doesn't do anything for the noise!

I'm on holiday at the moment but if you like I'll pop a post up on the blog on how I did it when I get back (the blog link is in my signature).-- attachment is not available --

Thanks that would be awesome. You do some great work! I am trying to avoid any permanent modifications to the Mk2 so I would like to keep everything cosmetic, but at the same time keeping it realistic. I am very new to airsoft but I want to do it right.

thanks again,

Paul

Good call, all of my Sten kits (as I slowly but surely finish each one!) are temporary and detachable, convenient for re-enacting and for 'correctness' in some of the more specific games, not to mention it being nice to ring the changes!

Glad you like the blog, I really need to get some more of my projects on!

Your projects are great...

Did you change the inner barrel lenght ?

what did you use for the silencer itself?

how did you attach it to the gun?

All shall be revealed dear boy!

The inner barrel is just the standard length, I bought my Sten used and it had a tightbore barrel in it (meaning it is already silly-accurate). The way I see it, it's an SMG and should have an effective range out to 35yds with suppression out to 60 maybe, so there's no point putting a full-size barrel in it.

Also check out my Sten to MP28 conversion...

the MP28 barrel guard is very similar to a Sten silencer but with holes :)

Could you not get tubing the same diameter as the heat shield? This would make the join better looking as it would screw on directly in place of the heat shield.

Difficult to find tube of exactly the correct diameter, the internal diameter needs to be spot on for that to work and the thickness would have to be just right for it not to look odd.

It can be done, I used 40mm od tube (the same as the original heat shield) with a 2mm wall, and filed one end internally until it fitted over where the original heat shield fits, and hence fits exactly the same as the original.
