Does anyone know a source of Enfield mags cheaper than the 45 quid plus ones on ebay ? I'm struggling to find one and it's the last significant piece I need (apart from an actual base rifle that is...)

Ta.

Try giving Helston Gunsmiths a ring, they don`t have one on their website at the moment but they`ve normally got a shed load of stuff they don`t list. :good:

Chelmsford Militaria have them for £32.50 inc postage.

There was a stall at Malvern that had a card-board box full of No.4 mags, for £5 each!!! I though "I'll have a quick look 'round and come straight back and get a couple". Upon returning, they had all disappeared! :slap:

Worldwide Arms, they are SMLE mags, but they are only a tenner ,and you are going to have to look very closely to tell the difference.

Awesome - thanks for the direction.

I assume from the last comment that the SMLE mag will fit in the trigger guard housing of a No.4 ? They do look very similar, but I'm going on photos.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that the No.1 mag' housing will fit inside the No.4's trigger guard, but not the other way 'round, as the No.4 mag' housing has an additional 'guide' ridge on it's rear.

But... you're making a replica right?... You'll have to chop things anyway, so chopping this a bit shouldn't be a problem...

Well when you say "you're" making a replica, it would be more accurate to say I'm funding the construction of a replica which will be made by a skilled operative.

Broadsword, my Enfield build is going along in the same style as yours, in that I'm getting people who know what they are doing to do the work rather than mucking it up myself. Tanaka m700 action fitted into the woodwork and as you can see I've got hold of a SMLE mag as well as a No4 mag, both of which are going to be chopped in half and fixed to the bottom of the Tanaka mags.
The whole project has now gone to a father of one of my younger airsofters, who is an engineer, to join the rear stock to the main body, and chop the mags.

Doscosport single, I've got another single and a double, they're all I would use for transporting guns. Lockable, good foam padding and sturdy enough to take a battering with other kit in the back of a motor without worrying about the contents.

Thanks. The No4 is a bit long for floating about in a soft case.

Those prices are quite reasonable, I think I paid about £35 for the single and £45 for the double a couple of years ago.

For all my guns I use this type:
http://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/s ... x25x125-cm (for rifles)
http://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/s ... 0x25x98-cm (for smgs)

They come in several different lengths. Absolutely brilliant cases, really, really strong and not hugely expensive considering.
