Hi all,

Well, there have been some developments in our household, we are now considering emergrating to Canada in the next couple of years, I've tried joining a canadian ww2 airsoft forum to ask questions be have had no reply to my request, so thought I'd ask on the hallowed forum here.

Does anyone know the rules and regs for transporting airsoft rifs to Canada? As I'd like to take most of them with me, but if I can't then I will sell them in the next year or so and wait till we get over there before starting again.

Cheers all

On first reading it would seem that airsoft replicas are not allowed?

It appears they are in a very odd state of affairs.

The bit that seems to apply here will be;
"Can I import airsoft into Canada?
No, an individual cannot import airsoft into Canada. Not just because airsoft are considered prohibited devices, but because replicas are specifically not permitted for import by the CBSA (customs). If you try to bring airsoft across the border and it is discovered, at the very least you should expect it to be seized, and you could be faced with firearms related charges. Customs isn't perfect and some airsoft does get through by mail or being driven across the border. I personally absolutely recommend against trying this. Not only is it expensive to lose your airsoft, the potential consequences might stick with you your whole life."

Thanks for this guys, will be checking with the high commission about it as well, but by the looks of it I'll end up selling all my rifs and side arms and starting again out there.

Cheers

Best of luck, I hope it goe's better than my attempts to bring mine into NZ. Spent a lot of time money and effort to get them converted to semi to comply with the laws out here, then paid a tax on them and an inspection charge and the cutoms/police didn't bother to come along and check....

Would I do it again yes because the HK companys that we buy from out here butcher the guns to make them comply.......and guess what, they have just changed the law back to allow full auto again.........I just can't win.......

Lt. Morris Schaffer: "Second rate punk," eh?
Major John Smith: Sorry. All I could think of on the spur of the moment.
Lt. Morris Schaffer: Thanks, that makes it even worse.

You can absolutely bring your airsoft guns to Canada. Main requirements are that it MUST shoot above 366fps, and there must be evidence of that. How you achieve that is another thing.

Airsoft Canada is the place to go for legislation requirements for importation. To help you out I will try to find links to provide you with the information you need.

What part of the country are you locating to? There are a few sites here, the most active is http://www.ontarioairsoftwwiireenactors.com for eastern Canada, http://www.ahara.proboards.com for western Canada, there is a large group in Quebec but I'm not sure of their website address.

Depending on what you have however, it may be easier to sell and buy new here. Prices are somewhat comparable to US prices depending on the gun you're looking at getting, plus shipping obviously, and retailer mark up which has become much more bearable in the last 2-3 years. An airsoft gun used to be inflated as much as 300% higher than US prices. It's come a long way since then.

We don't know where we will move to just yet, looking at the Eastern side but all depends on where I can get the work, as a HGV driver I can go just about anywhere, my misses is from Ontario kemptville area, but she would like PEI, most of my Rifs I'd sell anyway as I just don't use them, M249, L96, M1A1 Thompson, and an M4/M203 which hasn't been used in 7 years.
