Shoei of Japan are doing a run of escort MG42s but they are eye-wateringly expensive. The only FG42 that I know of (also Shoei) are blank firers.

If only mate! As BedsnHerts says, Shoei make a very expensive model gun version and are planning an Escort GBB version but nobody else makes an Airsoft version. TBH, The FG42 is on nearly every axis players wish-list but unless you are a skilled machinist like Jay851 who has custom built one, its a bit of a pipe-dream im affraid :(

Realistically if you want a skirmishable Axis primary weapon, your best choices are these:
AGM MP40 (AEG cheap and reliable)
Ultima MP44 (AEG V-nice but also V-expensive)
Tanaka Kar98k (Gas, Mid-range cost but very nice)
Kar98k Springer (Custom Build or have custom Built for you) Usually based on a VSR-10 or clone installed into a real K98 stock or converted Dboyi/Marushin Shell ejector
Ultima MG42 (AEG, V-V-Expensive but a beast)

Obviously if you have enough money anything is possible

To my knowledge no mainstream manufacturer makes one. Have a look on some of ther other sites and I believe some one is making one themselves.

It's just a matter of time. WWII is an expanding market and I predict that this time next year we'll be able to buy decent and affordable Chinese MG42s FJ42s, Grease guns and Garands. Remember when an MP40 was a pipe-dream???

Too true, with the market saturated with M4's, AK's ect, something new would be a refreshing change. We can but wait and hope. I'd be happy with a KAR 98 with a mag. Sadly my DIY ability is close enough to non existant.

I half agree with that, The Chinese are great at replicating but not at innovating, infact the MP40 is the only chinese airsoft gun so far with a "new" gearbox design. So an MG42? yes, they will just copy the Shoei/Ultima, But an FG42? unlikely IMO. Personally I think that is a good thing, or else we would have whole platoons of FJ's running around with FG42's which would be just wrong! I would like the MG42 though

this mob claim to produce an FG42 in plastic/wood for $990 plus the cost of a TM M16 to fit it in. Or on application a model with metal and wood (no price). Just casual interest really, but anyone had any experience of wwiiguns?

WWiiguns are red flaged on more sites than I care to link too. As has been posted you would be silly to give them your money.

Thanks. I had a feeling I had read something uncomplimentary on the subject in the distant past.

Here's a video of Shoei's FG42 model gun. Can't quite see the point myself but there you go.

It has a very impressive and complicated flash supressor for a gun of those times.
