Not sure of the quality of these but I reckon they would form a good "building block" for making a proper conversion.

I'm tempted to order based on price alone!

I've also noticed, looking at a real FG42, that the magazine is VERY similar to that of my old favourite, the L1A1 SLR. I feel an attempt at an FG42 coming on!

I've come across these before , however be aware they are rarely full full size, the MG42 one is about 2/3 size , which would look a bit cack IMHO .
Dpends what you're looking for I guess .

They are absolutely horrible vac-formed POS. Not worth the money.

Yeah, I thought they looked a bit cack, but with the cost of the alternatives I thought they might be a good starting point.

I've seen one of 'em. They really are truly terrible. Just vac-formed (and badly at that) from originals.

It's probably the first and only time i'll ever say that something from Relics is better!

Lol, that's pretty bad!

Oh well, looks like another divorce when I start spending my time trying to make an FG42!

It's something i've looked into. The hardest part of the whole operation is building the hop-up unit and finding where to store the battery. An M14 gearbox should fit, with a remote trigger and trigger linkage. Then there is the problem of completely redesigning the fire selector. And thats before you even start worrying about what it looks like. Magazines are easy. STAR FAL locaps (no chance of hicaps with a horizontally fed magazine)

I was thinking of using a P90 gearbox or an MP40 gearbox as well. I've done a lot of research and have loads of photos to work from. My biggest obstacle is a lack of a workshop! I'll have to do it all the hard way. I've some expereince of scratchbuilding model tanks and such and I'm hoping that will stand me in good stead.

Oh, I wish I had read all this before I place an order for 2 M1 Garands, a .50 cal kit and a Stg44 kit...

I guess I will have to see what they are like when they arrive.
