Hello, my name is David and i'm all the way in Alberta, Canada.
Been searching the web for a while, and I couldn't find much info.
The AGM MP40 has a 205mm inner barrel (give or take) and a modified version 3 gearbox. Anybody knows if there is a Full tune-up kit available thats compatible with the AGM MP40?
I was going to buy the systema FTK made for the AK47 along with that size barrel (and make up a silencer to hide the rest), but I have no manual for the gun and can't find any breakdown shots on the web (i haven't got the slightest idea how to take down the upper receiver, i took down all the screws and the thing wont budge)
Just trying to inform myself before i go ahead and buy the parts.
an MP40 with a silencer? now that would look good!
Sure 1 of the chaps will post a how-to about taking 1 down, I have seen them in pieces on open days so i would imagine its straight forward when you know.
So easy, I will let you delve into the gearbox on your own, you should be able to find instructions for version 3 mechboxes on the web, this is a version 3 hybrid, very similar, as for the upper reciever just split it as per installing the battery, you are left with 2 bits, the lower reciever with mechbox & the upper reciever / barrel & hop, remove the 2 screws that are visible near the mag well, inside the mag well are 2 more, remove these & then take out the plastic mag liner, now you should be able to remove the barrel from the reciever, the inner barrel & hop unit are secured with 2 more screws that you should be able to see now, to renew the inner barrel & hop rubber you will need to modify the hop unit, this involves cutting & modifying it as its a factory sealed unit, I can provide full instructons if you want including pics of the barrel hop step by step,
Mine is tuned up with the following parts:
Systema oilless metal bushings, systema spring guide with bearings, PDI 150% spring, TM standard piston, systema polycarbonate piston head, systema aluminium version 3 cylinder head, systema mp5 Teflon cylinder, systema polycarbonate tappet plate, guarder improved hop bucking & clear silicone hop rubber ( trimmed slightly )& 229mm 6.04 systema inner barrel, the gears are steel so are pretty good, they just need re shimming, the air nozzle is a one off & AK ones don't fit so you will have to stick with the original,

Damn Steve, i was just about to post it also lol
oh that reminds me - Diggah u got any of those MP40 bolt handle screw sets left?
At least with a tune up we can keep up with the ACM Thompsons

Thanks, your help is much appreciated. I took off all of the screws you mentioned the other day (before i posted this thread actually), pardon if this sounds silly, but where exactly is the mag liner?
**edit**
NVM, i got it, twas the plastic bit hidden in the magwell.
**re-edit**
WOW there's a lot of grease in this gun.
**re-re-edit**
I successfully took the upper receiver apart. (good lord, there was even some lube on the outside of the inner barrel, these guys really shoved a grease gun in this thing)
I think ill stick with the MP40s factory barrel for now i suppose, and concentrate on the gearbox.
Thanks again for your help.
As to if there are any FTK available for this gun, would you recommend getting one designed for the G36C (or other version 3 gearbox AEG), or buying the parts individually like you have done (starting to price things out and so far a FTK is roughly 50$+ cheaper)? Also, what size are the bushings that you bought.
Get all the bits seperatly, I use ehobby asia, as the grease goes I de grease all the gears & re grease, use a good lithium grease on the bearings & gears, use a good quality silicone grease on the piston guides, piston seal & all the other rubber & plastic bits like the tappetplate etc, bearings are 6mm,

The other post was getting cluttered, anyways i took two pictures of a problem area.
Should i be worried about this?
It should not be there but the air nozzle seals inside so should not affect it,
