Hey guys,

As i prep my garand for its new face lift. Im trying to find a spray paint or anything else that will give me a good parkerised effect.

Can anyone recommend me anything? I was looking at tamiya gun metal paints but im not sure that will do

I tried this once on the butt plate on my Garand AEG and it looked okay, a bit like well handled parkerised steel:

Spray the part silver (plasticote is good) then spray over with matt black or metallic black. Once dry, using T-cut and a soft cloth buff it up until the silver just starts to show through the black paint. It's a much more subtle effect than using wet & dry.

Finally a coat of semi gloss or matt varnish to protect it.

I'd post a pic, but the but plate on my Garand is well used now and almost all the paint has come off it.
