Hi,

I have a challenge with my Cyma Thompson. The motor seems to have slipped away from the gearbox and isn't meshing with the gears. The housing is all fine and solid. When I pull the trigger the motor whines but doesn't turn the gearbox. When I manually show the motor hard up into the gearbox (there is some play) then it works fine and fires. The challenge is that I can't find anything to adjust. I could manually shim the motor, but that doesn't feel like the right answer. On my M4 there is a little plate that sits at the end of the motor that allows you to adjust it's fit with the gearbox. But I can't see the same thing on the M1A1.

Any suggestions?

in the base of the motor housing there is a threaded hole that is also used for the screw that holds the pistol grip on ,further down inside the threaded hole there should be a grub screw for motor adjustment, they over do it with the thread lock so it can take a bit of fiddling to get the Allen key to engage in the grub screw ,unless of course our Chinese friends forgot to install it.

Success!

That's what I was expecting to find but I was trying to find it with a screwdriver, not an allen key.

For the record, tightening it up fully with a 2mm allen key (not hard tight, just snug) then loosening it 2 full turns back works perfectly.

i usually do it with the trigger pulled ,tighten until it slows the rate of fire and then back it off a tad till maximum speed again, gives best mesh without friction.
