im thinking of putting a 650mm tight barrel in an ak47, will it work ok?
im worried about it sucking back the bb when the piston goes back

Should be fine,
the only problems that will arise is that if you have stupidly high rof. Although using a 6.01 - 6.02 barrels will increase your FPS by some amount so if your AK is already tuned for 350 FPS you may need to downgrade it. (of course dependant on the site rules)

An MG42 you say.... in that case.....
It wont work, just bin it now, stop the project!!!! I dont want another MG42 shooting me anytime soon 
I used the "PSG1+" length barrels in the MG42's that I made, without any problems at all.

hes been using a standard ak barrel so far , the psg-1 barrel should give him better range

If you don't fix the barrel in too firmly (just a bit of give at the muzzle end), you'll get a nice "beaten zone" effect as well.

i told him that last night, just a bit of insulation tape around the inner barrel at the muzzle end in case of a sharp bang or jolt. and leave a small gap between it and the outer barrel.
a nice cone of fire so everybody gets a bit 
also using a mix of bb weights helps. i find good quality .12s go all over, with .20s and .25s for range , even my MP40 blatted them everywhere with that mix
