had my hands on an ics version grease gun today and it looks and feels great. very very sturdy, good weight and nicely built not like the real gun! i was very tempted to buy one but retailer hasnt sorted the price yet, to be around £300. 400rd hicap mag included, possibly takes thompson mags though so no probs there. has an unusual battery though. even the box it come in looks good. i didnt have time to fire it, safety and full auto only with some cool controls. i can see that the cocking cover plate will get in the way of the fire selector abit though. let me know if any of you out there get one.
ics grease gun is in stock at only £250. takes only ics hicaps. no sign yet of any midcaps.
In stock where?

beat me to it! yes fire support. its on the wall in the showroom. better ring ahead if you want to fire it before buying so they can charge the battery up as its takes a strange battery shape.
Also in stock at JD AIRSOFT.

"REMEMBER, LIFE IS NOT A REHEARSAL"
ok no problem, its probably one of those new guns which are in the shop but take a few days to arrive on the website. im not after one but just interested. cheers for the info.
I have taken mine apart and used it at Anzio and Xsite Outpost and have been impressed with the gun externally and the ease of access to the gearbox. I also like the M4 internals (as they are easy to come by) although the quality of the ICS internals is something to be questioned. My pinion gear on mine was terrible and the top end of the gearbox is very basic. (although the break down shows a ported piston head and other quality parts which obviously didnt make to the final version.) Not impressed with the hop and barrel as they are loose although havent looked at sorting it yet. But having said all that still worth while.

Absolutely. Thankfully, mine was a gift, so I didn't feel too bad when it died midway through a game for no apparent reason. Seemed one of the spade connectors had come off the motor, so an easy fix. However, that was not the end of it. 2 weeks later, did it again, thought to myself, I'll re-attach the thing later, and played on with another gun. Turns out the ICS Turbo motor had 'issues', and would randomly cease opoerating, then go again, then stop, etc. The trigger is pretty poor too, such a long travel and therefore poor trigger response. Other than that though, great wee gun, which as stated above, has great range for it's size.
I had a go of the Ares one at Patrol Base on Saturday, although it's nice, the battery in the mag concept and the £300 price tag put me off!
my star was £259 from action hobbies, its 95% steel and much more realistically finnished, colour welds etc and
due to the later style bolt i removed the cocking lever and blocked the hole that was left.
the battery in mag was a pain but ive made a double stacked mag ,with one mag a low cap battery holder and the other converted to hi-cap using the innards of a marui uzi mag so the best of both worlds.
red wolf do a mag set for the star including three mags and four lipo batteries for £55.

The ARES/STAR is a far better replica. I was all set to buy an ICS M3 since I didn't want the M3A1 Ares/Star as they're a post war thing (they have got both now, obviously lol). I got my hands on the ICS I was about to purchase and I hated it. Even from a distance I didn't think it was convincing. Too neat looking, matt painted finish and cross head screws aplenty. As much as a pain the mag battery is on the ARES, I would 100% go for that if I was still in the market for a 'Greaser'.
The version 1 Ares non blow back i would probably prefer over the version 2 with EBB. But having said this Ares internals in most cases are not easily repalced as some parts are specific to that gun. Were as i mentioned before the ICS takes basically M4 (or version 2 parts) which will never ever run out. (EVER!) Grab an ICS weather it (or just use it alot) repalce some of the stock internals with some higher quality stuff! ( i went systema energy mainly because it was new and because i was only using a 1300 7.2volt mini battery.) And enjoy a gun which will last you for ever. Next on my agenda is to convert some midcaps. Although saying all of this I know Doug has a version 1 Ares and hasnt skipped a beat yet.
I bought the ICS gun in preference to the Ares one simply because of past experience with both Star and ICS. I bought a Star G36 and while it looked great externally essentially needed a complete rebuild of the gearbox - and it wasn't a cheap gun to start with. My old ICS M4 is still going strong on original internals although it as now morphed into a mosfetted up Magpul lookalike. I've not handled a real M3 so can't comment on how realistic it looks but it's not bad as far as I can tell - and it shoots faster and harder out the box than the Ares. That said, I do notice that the Ares gun has come down a bit in price but is still around £269 compared to the ICS at £229.
