Odd. I thought I read somewhere that it would use Thompson mags.
The gearbox looks a lot like the MP40 and/or Sten layout.
As for the English in the parts not quoted from Wikipedia... Surely it wouldn't cost them much to employ a native speaker to re-write their releases. Hell most non-native speakers I know could do better than that!
Odd. I thought I read somewhere that it would use Thompson mags.
At the German trade fair the company spokesman was asked if it took MP40 mags and he replied "no, because it was a .45 it would take Thompson mags"
Heh, that translation IS shocking. A dusty cover is quite the opposite of a dust cover I would have thought!
Anyhoo - the gun ain't steel and it is mostly cast. I can't make up my mind whether that is a good thing or not.
Heh, it's got a rubbish M4 style hop-up. Shame.
Anyway, glad one that is slightly more sensibly designed is being made... but I'll be saving my money for the garand!

Ah. OK.

Being optimistic, one could say it had done its job in that the cover is dusty, rather than what it's covering.

Not needing to have 1 battery per mag HAS to be a good thing.
in terms of price Is hoping its going to be a in ICS budget range slightly optomistic?
WW2 Weapons AGM Sten, AGM MP40
They are doing it as I have said I would with a Thompson mag and rear bat so all good news but we can expect alloy casting I think.
Free speech is expensive these days!
AFAIK M3's were REMF guns and tankers emergency weapons in Europe rather than front line stuff. Makes no real difference to us I guess , but still .

or complex metalline materials - as they call it.

That's not a Thompson mag in those photos - no rail up the back, and it has the sheet doubler for a "normal" mag well and catch.

True maybe the internals are the same as the Thompson mag.

The winder looks the same, but the top is different.
more importantly when are they releasing it
Well I for one can't wait to "strafe with abandon!"
Almost worth investing in a Yank uniform
looks like a better more conventional design and if the body is cast ally then it can still be treated to look more steel like and wer'nt they painted any way so it will feel right.looks like a winner to me and a gun ive allways liked

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
a problem shared is a problem halved ,but an advantage shared is no advantage at all
if a job's not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well
Well after spliting with my young lady and getting a full refund on my holiday i will grab one ASAP and do a "double" review of my Hudson With upgrades and the ICS.
Would like to do a triple review or a Quad review if i could get hold of a Ares EBB and the normal Ares grease guns.

well doug mac has the M3A1 and I have the M3 so a quad review is more than possible.
Thought i would post a few pics of mine here and do a review to keep it all in one place.
First impressions. Feels strong and sturdy. In comparision to the Hudson it weighs more but with the Hudsons mag in the gun as well the Hudson may just win in the battle of weight. (although no battery in the ICS at the mo to compare) It comes with a Jet black finish which seems odd to me as the Hudson always had a tint of green in there somewhere. Dont know which is correct maybe someone who knows a little more would like to comment. Comes with a DVD which says disasembey and upgrades etc on it will watch that at some point although it seems to be a genric disc. Also comes with a manual which has everything translated to English which is nice. Most annoying thing so far is that I didn't get my free bag of BB's in the box! The mag in the picture wasnt fully clicked in and at the mo needs a bit of force to get it in. No wobble though and rather have it tight that loose! When I first opened it there seemed to be some white marks (probably grease) just wiped these off. No battery or Chrono to compare atm but happy with the look so far. The sights are what you expect from a grease gun (crap!) but they seem to work unlike the Hudson ones. Also the sliding stock is solid and you get aloud click as it snaps into place. No holding an anntenna anymore!

The markings which you can see here are:

Last picture is a Hudson GBB to compare.
I've read in several places that the green tint seen on WW2 age guns is usually a "patina" - a result of the surface finish aging. Like a copper roof going green over time.
Just given it a test fire, with a 7.2V 1300 Gold Peak battery and very impressed. Even with such low voltage the gearbox cycles flawlessly. Has decent range but i thought i would have a play with the hop up and that works beautifully too. I also thing that the bolt arm when used to expose the hop up actually resets the spring (like firing a gun on single shot) as thats what it sounded like but will need to go back to the manual to confirm this.
This was the battery which I managed to fit although was over charged for it!
Just had a look around and it seems AA are the only people stocking these. I will buy and try to get the ICS one to fit as they say it does, but I think its one of those things you need a "nack" for.
Stu
So would the Sten-sized LiPo fit? The 7.4V, 850mAh one that goes in the back of the receiver.
