Having looked up WW2 Trench Guns and getting near as I can to my Mossberg I came across the Ithaca. As per the pictures this is my progress on my homemade full aluminium heat shield. The red stuff is a splash of undercoat from the underside. I have sanded and re-stained/linseeded the woodwork and removed the rubber butt and fitted an aluminium one.-- attachment is not available ---- attachment is not available --

Nice! Are you using a Marushin or ACM M500, or one of the springers?

I've been and bought myself a late Christmas present in the form of a TM. M870 shotgun. I'm going to order one of the Laylax wood kits to give the stock and fore grip. I've got a heat shield from a cheapo plastic springer, the only metal part on it! I'm hoping to get a mate who has access to metalworking tools to make the bayonet lug. I did find a heat shield / lug kit from the states but it was $175 extra so thought I'd try the mate route first ;)
