Lol yes I've browsed the topic, but what I mean is a step by step guide or something, I'm not the most bricolage type of person so I really don't know how to convert the two weapons together!

Try here http://www.e-gunparts.com/model_new.asp?CatID=4228 I've bought a lot of stuff from them in the past, the only problems with ordering from them is that you need to keep the order below $100, (otherwise you'll need to apply for an export licence), plus they now charge an export handing fee, so it's not going to be that cheap to buy from them, having said that the exchange rate is currently about $1.60 to the pound so it might not be too bad

Hello there,

I have seen your nice work and I'm about to attempt the conversion of a Dboys to vsr/bar98K...

I have all the parts but the vsr magazine (on its way by post) and magazine catch button. I guess I'll have to improvise on the last since I cant find one.
The initial box with the parts include:

- Complete Dboys wood Kar98K;
- VSR-10 outer barrel x2, inner barrel, hop-up and chamber, receiver, rail mount x2, complete cilinder + another complete bolt handle, complete bar-10 trigger mechanism, extra original piston and an "fire box" metal piston and guide rod (9mm). A couple of difefent springs and an extra cilinder head... A lot of junk.

I'll start by the back of the receiver, working as a guide for all the rest....

You could always go the route of using sticky velcro pads to hold the mag in place. A lot less hassle than trying to hollow out the wood to take a mag catch.

If you really want to go with a proper mag catch then I do have one, complete with metalwork, catch and spring, which you can have as I didn't use it in my SMLE, instead going for the velcro method. (I see you have the metalwork though!)

After a few hours of hard work I have realised I don't have the proper tools to achieve my goal...
Cramps in my left thumb are surfacing like :spam: on a very strange Monty python episode, hehe.

On to some shopping...

You can do the whole thing with a Dremel, no need to get loads of other tools.

Thank you. A Dremel or a tool alike would do fine.
I have been able to open the mag well and all is fine so far. Today I'll try hack the trigger guard for the mag to fit.
Also, the vsr outer barrel has been cut short, leaving some space for fine tunning on the final assembly.

Your photos have been great help. One idea from here, another from over there, hehe.

Lots of questions - hopefully my reply will answer a lot of them.

Most people on here would advise you to forget trying to make a Dboys work better - even if you upgraded the barrel and hop, it would still be awful, because the shells leak air and become mis-shapen through use. What this thread is about is using the externals of inferior WWII shooters like the Dboys and Marushin, and putting in decent internals, like a JG BAR10.

No sites exclusively do WWII airsoft - games are organised and advertised on forums like this one, and Gunman Airsoft. There is a game next month at UCAP, which is co-incidentally in Portsmouth. I believe there is just one place left.

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier

If you read this thread, you'll find all the information you need.

The overall concensus on the Dboys K98 is that it's a pile of s**t. You can't get the power up because of the way it's built and trying to do so is a waste of time and money. The best use for it is for donor parts and drop a VSR 10 into the stock. Since you have access to decent tools, it should be easy for you.

Lots of our members are from your area. There is no formal "WW2 club", CiA run events all over the UK, wherever the site best suits the scenario. PBI, gunman, Army Group South and a host of others also run WW2 games. The forum contains dozens of threads regarding games and groups, just do some research. :good:

Why not drop by the new members section and introduce yourself?

I would make a dboys vsr10 conversion!

The advantages were all named!

The dboys is nice to look at but the accuracy is the worst i've ever seen. it shoots right, it shoots left, up and down. it's incredible! :rofl:
They should make a Tanaka clone out of the dboys but the idiots copied the marushin. that sucks!
To come back to your problem... a stronger spring: i wouldn't do this! the safeguard (i don't know how it's really called^^) at the end is screwed with two or three small screws with the bolt. these screws are really small and i think they wouldn't hold the stronger spring.
You won't get much power out of the dboys, because the wohle system is crappy!
So think of it and make a dboys vsr10/bar10 conversion. ^^
The other option is to buy a marushin or a dboys k98 gas version. it's a one to one copy to the marushin. I heard that the gas- is better than the springversion. it has a one piece barrel and it's more powerful.

One answer above isn't entirely correct. There is a site which exclusively does WWII... Unfortunately for you it's in Scotland.

Hello again,

I've made some advances in my conversion, so here goes.
Mag, receiver and outer barrel fit perfectly and it already feeds properly, hehe.

Lacking:

- Kar98 outer barrel cutting and locking in place;
- Fitting the vsr trigger into the kar98 trigger guard assembly;
- Fitting the front wood cover into the hop-up chamber;
- Cut the back of the kar98 receiver to hold the vsr receiver in place;
- Decide on what to do with the bolt handle (cut the wood or try to addapt the Dboys bolt).

Any ideas on the Dboys bolt "conversion" ?

The first 8 or so pages of this thread have the info and pictures you need for that little lot.

Looking good. Told you you could do it! :good:

nice work!

i would try to addapt the dboys bolt!

keep on trying!^^

I will begin with my conversion in two or three months because i'm busy now with my application for a industrydesign study.

P.S.: I'm interested in videos of your dboys vsr conversions :!: Maybe some of you have a digital cam and could make a short video and post it on youtube but only if you have the time for it. :wink:

I've hacked the Hop-up chamber....
Although it wasn't exactly a clean job, it met its purpose.

On to the trigger and the bolt that will secure the magazine...

Keep watching Ebay, they come up pretty regularly. Good luck with your conversion! :good:

What does it look like? Someone might be able to make one.

Front band spring.

Not even really worth setting up tooling to make one of these - as Pete says check Ebay; best parts are still to be had out of Germany/Poland/Czech Republic.

Without knowing which part he means, and seeing a hole there, "pin" sounded like a simple lathe job to me.

The hole in the nose cap is where the front band spring "clicks" into place, locking it all together. There don't seem to be any on Ebay at the moment but they do come up regularly. Places like Sarco and Marstar sell them for about $5 as well.
