I believe an aeg carbine has been built using a M14 as a base, (I'm sure there's a thread on here about it), but the preferred method was to use a scorpion as a base, Warren, (Shoot & Scoot), was developing one but the supply of cheap scorpions dried up so it never made it to production.

The problem with the carbine is that the receiver is just too tiny to fit any decent size gearbox. Your 2 options are to get a Marushin (and pray yours will work well) or a KJW ruger10/22 with a Ra-Tech carbine kit.
