Ok so after speaking to Yith through pms hes about 99% convinced me to go for a thompson as a good all round ww2 gun. BUT my mind keeps wandering off to the m1 garands made by marushin yes they are gas and yes they are 8mm but look at them. theyre beautiful and they work just like the real thing.
I know its nt exactly practical for when your playing against guys with 500 round hicaps or a drum mag on an mp5 but for the ww2 scene (re-enactments ect) it should suffice surely; and anyway for the people who feel it appropriate to have stupdily unrealistic amounts of ammo in one mag i have my ak-47.
Anyway back to the garand
i love the look and the realistic action i just love everything.
Just a few q's power and accuracy, what are they like.
Thankyou in advance,
Myroslav

Personally mate, Id advise against it until you have a AEG and Springer. I have one that is so nakkered I is only a prop for my re-enactmet gear(N0.2 Commando used US Gear after the invasion of N Africa until the end of the war)

Get A Woodstock VSR if you want a fifle, just put some hessian over the last few feet of the rifle.

I Agree with yith, get a thompson they are mint. And pick a sidearm.

And after you have all your gear then get the Gas Garrand.

But If you want one now,

And Yes I know I am a bidder but I allready have all my basic kit.

I played a couple of rounds with Major's M1 Garand at F&O a few weeks ago.

It truly is a wonderful gun. However... all the above are valid points.

It wouldn't be my first choice (or even my second or third, since I do British not US)... however somewhere down the line I'd certainly consider it.

The point is I'd want other more practical guns first!

i have quite a few guns and have owned about 9/10 aegs now from m16's to the heckler and koch series i want somthing a bit different and one thing that really does frustrate me is bing outrange by stupidly uotrange my uprgraded m4's and the like thats my a gas rifle would kinda meet my demands, yes i know it isnt the most practical but it sure would be a nice gun to have.
Yith how were you finding it to pick targegs offf from quite a range and what is the fps like.
thankyou

edit* yith about it being us on a brit gun im not going for a us loadout either its for my eastern front (ukrainian insurgent loadout) and from what ive read america exported a huge amount of weaponry to that area to aid them agains the germans
but accuracy on exactly what models was a bit bleak alot went unrecorded in that area :(

8mm is a problem... not all sites allow it.

fps and accuracy is good. only having semi auto and the length of it makes closer shots more difficult.

I tried it in two short games and "maybe" got a single kill... its a tough one to use.

Major has to continually work on it to keep it running.

a bit worrying....from what i said in my previosu post aswell as the Thompson would you reccomend any other things more like garand? I looked at the m14 but 1 its probably longer than me and 2 its not historically accurate which kind of defeats the whole point in my opinion
thnx

Yep and a Thompson on single shot can be just as effective and discreet.

Lots of things you could do to it, but you won't be frustrated with it out of the box!

Just to add - we were in the Wolf Armouries shop the other day and the helpful sales assistant informed us they don't sell Garands anymore because every single one they did sell broke down and came back for repair.

Now that may well be an exaggeration but worth bearing in mind.

The first time I used my thompson was at a woodland event & I soon realised I was out ranged by quite a few AEGs, I would recomend metal bushings & a 1 joule spring, taking it from 280fps to 320fps+ does make a diffrence, a tighter barrel may help if you have the cash, or wait a while as the ACM thompson is coming out soon & these may be a lot cheaper & more powerful out the box
