Just wondering what you are planning to do with it? if it's for skirmishing it does have issues, the key one is that you load it much the same as a real one ie 8 rounds into a clip which is then loaded into the gun and as with the real one when you've fired the 8 rounds the clip ejects, which looks and sounds great, problem is the clips are about £10 each you only get one with the gun so you have to factor in getting a reasonable number of clips, plus when they eject you run the risk of losing them which can get kind of expensive. Also being a gas gun it suffers all the usual problems in cold weather. That being said a number of people on this site have skirmished the Garand and I'm sure they'll be able to answer your questions.

If you are after a Garand to skirmish there are a number of custom AEG Garands available, our very own Warren from ShootNscoot can supply you with either a kit to convert an M14 or the complete gun already converted, AZR do a convertion kit which people like Barrie & Anne have used, if you search the forums you'll find a number of threads about these, also there's a guy on our US sister site that sells converted M14's as well see here http://ww2aa.proboards45.com/index.cgi? ... hread=2835 , (you may have to sign up for the site to view the page).

OK thanks. An AEG would be a wiser choice but I didn't know you could get them! I'll take a look. cheers.

Yeah the blowback M1s are great fun, but very impractical! Good for supression fire from a fixed position (because you pic up all the spent clips later) rather than shooting on the run!

It's dead easy to go the AEG route. Either:
Buy and M14 (about £120 shpped from the UK) and a conversion kit (my AZR was e150 shipped from the Phillipines)
Buy a ready converted one from ShootnScoot (on this forum) or go to the US forum and buy the Rolls Royce from 2ndBat. He's very easy to fnd and has sold about 300 rifles to date.

From what I have seen, 2ndBats are the most accurate M1 in terms of looks but the AZR kit is real wood and cheaper. I think (correct me if I am wrong Mr W) that the SnS gun is an M14 plus a new foreend for an M1 lookalike.

Don't go the gas route - the M14-M1 converts can take low and hi caps and the donor AGM gun is the nuts. I outrange everything on the field with mine.

speak to CHThree on here about the 2nd bat ones. he doesnt have such a high opinion of them having bought one himself heh. however it does look the better of the three now hes re-worked it. warrens SnS ones are a m14 with the stock cut down and a complete front end put on. dimension and look wise they are spot on. the only thing with them being sprayed plastic stock bits as opposed to wood bits. the AZR ones look right but have several wrong bits(the main 2 of which being the grip of the stock is milled to thick, so thick people with smaller hands will struggle, and the front end wood/metal work isnt the right size) and tend to be quite expensive to ship over.

2nd Batts latest version has a custom built wooden stock so the whole things wood now, plus he'll build it with whatever base gun you want so if you'd prefer a TM he'll do it, obviously you have to pay the extra.

I've seen a few Marushin M1's in use and they sure do look the business. If that''s what you want, then got for it! Who cares about practicality? If we all thought that way, noone would be using Tanaka K98's or Marushin M1 carbines but people do because they are fun guns to use. If you want a GBB, then just do it, is my advice.

Yes I agree if that's what you want go for it, I just think it's a good idea to be aware of potential issues and if there are any alternatives as it's not a cheap buy.

Who knows one of these days I'll bring mine along to give it an outing, (yes yes if course I've got one   ), but I don't intend to use it on a regular basis.

as far as I was aware 2nd bat's was always full wood. but could be wrong. just all the ones i've seen of his have been wood. and its not fair comparing the gas garand to the gas 98k or m1 carb. they have fixed mags and solid parts where as the gas garand has mags that jump out and known weak parts.

No, it's about enjoying just using your gun! I wish a few more people thought the same way, rather than just banging hicaps on M14's. There's a satisfaction from working a bolt, or hearing a clip go "ping!" which you don't get with an aeg. Who cares about issues? As long as using your weapon is an "occassion" to look forward to?

you're preaching to the converted mate. I use a m1 carbine by default, and im a shotgun lover. but again it isnt fair to say "hey everyone bangs a hicap in a m14" as most of them use midcaps and some even use those acm shotgun mags cut down.

my main point being theres a point where practicality over comes enjoyment for me. and after hearing about several weak parts and seeing the cost and akwardness of the mags I personally cant see it being worth the cash outlay

Plus if you'd been there when Kav expressed just how happy he was with his Garands fobiles, (it was at the doughboys training day and if I remember correctly it he slung it quite some distance and only just restrained himself from smashing against a tree), you'd realise that sometimes practicality wins.

When i was going down the GBB Garand route i was looking at getting some luminous paint to use on 1 side of the mag. Hopefully making it easier to be seen on the floor.

I also came very close to buying a 2nd Bat conversion. The pictures he sent me of the weapon i was getting were amazing. But with quality comes a price. it was going to cost me £350 shipped i believe. So in the end i settled for the very nice and very well made S'n'S Garand. Having invested in 20 acm shotgun mags. Im looking to take it on its madien game at Husky.

Id still love a GBB M1, and maybe in the future get one. but for now practicality and enjoyment is top priority.

If you make it to any of the CIA ww2 games, im sure someone would let you take a peek a whats on offer to you.

Just FYI, I always hope that people will get enough smart to sit down and have an agreement about using only real caps. than you will have way much better advantage.

What I wanted to ask is, which shops in EU offer Marushin M1 Garand SI? I couldn't find any of them via google. (ANY help is apreciated)

Thanks guys. :good: I'll get the AEG one I think. For it's practicality, but if I ever get the money I might get the MARUSHIN just to grin every time I fire it. :D

You won't be sorry. You will have a sweet gun that is practical to use a both WWII (lo-caps) games and open days by slotting in a hi-cap to keep up with the M4 jockeys.

Cool. Talk to Warren on this forum about the M1 garand. Im certainly very happy with mine, and works a treat on the ACM shotty mags.

I was testing firing mine over the wkend and i was amazed at the distance the BB's travelled, It was hitting a branch on a tree, spot on at about a 20m distance. As i cud hear it go "dink" as it hit.
