i opened one up and milled the feed guids and made one into a double stack, changed the spring and follower over from a APS mag, got it to 25 untill i went to fare and balleds it up,
I tried much the same myself. It worked fine for a while, but then I found if you overfilled it even slightly the bbs, got past the follower and jammed it up, requiring it to be taken apart. Not really worth it!
I agree with Yith on this one. For the cost of the shotgun mag's, it's not worth the bother trying to modify them. 10 useable shots puts you on a level playing field with a Tanaka K98 in terms of firepower, with the Tanakas' greater range being balanced by the Garands' greater rate of fire (you also don't have the hassle of having to cart gas about and the shotty mags are easier to reload). I've got 24 shotty mags for my Garand and it's quite nice to have to change mags often, as it gives you a bit more realism. (I'm really looking forward to "Dragoon" and "Devils' Hill" and seeing high numbers of K98's pitched against Garands for the first time, instead of a sea of Thompsons!).

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
Yup, should be interesting.
I have 20 of them, which means they all fit perfectly in my cartridge belt!
Same here! Plus, I've squeezed 2 more into my first aid pouch! I could get another 10 in a bandolier too, in fact, I may just do that!
The added bonus is, that if my Garand conks out, the mags will go straight into my emergency backup "trench gun" too.

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
With about 20, I'm just about on the normal ammo limit, so I haven't bothered with any more. The remainder of the ammo limit is in 1911 mags.
Thanks for all your comments on the mag capacity issue. The more I think about it the more I come to the same conclusion as you all have, don't bother faffing about and buy more mags.

Using real cap magazines offers the experience closer to the real rifle as far as working in squads go.

I am pleased to announce my S&S M1 Garand fully operational at last. I've fitted an Element M14 breech to replace the broken original, fitted a Vanaras 6.03mm 590mm long barrel and modified a damaged Pro Arms M14 wood stock to fit. I've left the gearbox as all original parts just cleaned and then re-lubed with Her Majesty's finest XG276 and XG315 greases. I've just chrono'ed it and it's putting out between 330 and 340fps, happy with that.

nice one tarnish!

Here's a few more pictures of my finished effort. The forward/upper furniture is Warren's original resin parts repainted with acrylic and a nod to Guinness' weathering guide. I removed the charger guide and filled in the dovetail with black Milliput. The fire selector mechanism has been removed so the rifle is semi auto only now. I've also fixed a small pad of foam plastic material in the mag well with Scotch Grip to assist with mag ejection which works quite nicely.

Genious!! I'm nicking that idea, thanks!!

Nick away! That was actually something mentioned on the US WW2 Airsoft forum, although there the idea was to stick a pad to the top of the mag. I thought why stick a dozen to mags when I can stick just one to the gun?!

Oh there will be loads there, it's like the SnS Garand convention.
Just by way of insurance, if you do decide to get one before hand you would do well to ask Warren to make sure it is under 330 fps. When mine arrived it was over 400, and thus unusable.
I'm bringing my Garand which I believe was originally a S&S Garand.

Nice one Tarnish, I caught myself re-reading the bit you'd put saying you'd kept the resin hand guards on! The wood effect looks *very* realistic ![]()
I'm using my Gas M1 at Dragoon, so I may be shouting "reloading" a lot more than you guys hehe

It was actually very easy to do. I used normal artists acrylic (Reeves I think it is), dark umber and black. One overall coat of dark umber followed by a heavy "dry" brushing of black and finished off with a lighter dry brushing of dark umber again. A coat of matt varnish afterwards wouldn't hurt either although I've not done that yet.

Hello to everyone!
I decided to try to make AEG Garand as close to an original one as possible. This is the result of my work. Kart М-14 is inside, I used the reciever details and outer barrel from old marushin Garand, wood and other metal parts are original RS.

And this is my Marushin M1 Garand in original RS wood and steel parts as well.

Very nice, its a shame we cant use most real steel parts on our guns in the UK! ![]()
