Hello!
I have been reading some of your posts here on the Marushin m2 carbines. i normally in my games here impersonate Che guevara and this allows me to use a number of the weapons he would have used during his time with the 26th of July movement. I was interrested in these m2's. they seem durable, compact, powerful and acurate. we ahve few rules as far as power goes but i just had a few questions.
1. Have new shipments of these coming out been relieved of their initial problems?
2. is it beter to use HFC 134 gas?
3. Would green gas make it performe differently?
4. Have you guys used them in skirmishes and find them effective
5. as someone who knows very little about the dissasemply processes of some of these guns..is it worth my time?
thansk for any info you guys can give me. from what I ahve seen you all are really professional so I look forward to hearing from you.
All the best!
I dont know any thing about m2 carabines. but I saw a video one time and it apeared so nice to me see him shoting 4 inch luger and artillery one but he actually owned a 1911 colt next to him is Camilo Cienfuegos shoting a walter p38

I could be an a luftwaffe ace you know?..........................................................................Die Unsichtbare Waffe!
To be honest, I don't know anybody here who has one - well, Pete_59 probably has, cos he's got everything! - which is why nobody's replied.
The only question I can answer is that green gas will make it fire further - whether green gas is recommended or not, I don't know.
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
As far as i understand its not realy that skirmishable, i think Pete59 does have one i think he brought it to Bryansk.
I have the 'second model' M1 (which is basically the M2 without fire selector). I find it works very well, reliable, powerful and useable on Ultra and Green. I hear the M2 is unreliable due to the fire selector mech.
I took one of these apart recently, i'll just list what i've found.
The overall design is sound, but a couple of things can be improved upon. The first is the spring that holds the fire selector in place. Use a stronger spring, so the bugger will stay in the mode you set it in!
Typical Marushin Hop. It's very tricky to get it at the *exact* point you want it to sit.
Mag base seals leak, but they can be replaced with thicker nitrile or viton rubber sheet cut to the right size. (reminds me, need to send some to someone on this forum - but cant remember who )
Woodwork is crap. It's *far* too soft, but it shouldn't be too much effort to drop it into a real-deal stock.
When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

Strange you should say that
Yes I've got one so has Barrie & Anne
1. I got my one at the end of September last year so I can't comment on what's happening with recent batches, (by the way what are the initial problems you've heard of ?)
2. I'm not sure if the blowback will work properly with 134 gas unless it was a really hot day.
3. As with all gas guns using different grades of gas will increase or decrease the power of the gun depending on which gas you use, keeping in mind the effect the ambient temprature has on all gas guns.
4. I've used mine in a skirmish and it was ok, the problem I had, which I know Barrie&Anne have as well, is that on single shot the trigger doesn't return properly so you have to push it forward to allow you to fire it again.
5. As with all the Marushin guns I've had so far the build quality is not great and they've all benefitted from being 'tweaked' even if it's just making sure everything is properly tightened. If you're not confident in stripping these things then I'd suggest you get someone who knows what they're doing to check it over for you. Is it worth it? I think so as on fully auto it's awesome and it definately puts a smile on my face

yeah I have that video actually. Thanks for the heads up though. He did speak of using a luger in his memoirs and he talked about it accuracy and comfort but you are right, he prefered the 1911.

the problems I was refering to are the ones with the fire selector spring and the trigger sticking as you have mentioned here. Do you know if that was happening in scattered incidents with people or do they all pretty much siffer here. my problem is trying to stay faithful to the weapons used because this rifle only carries like 17 bb's in a mag, but everyone i am playing against is using AEg's with hi cap magazines. If this gas rifle gives me beter range and accuracy than thats fine, but I have no idea how to fix the problems described here with this weapon. Any tips? Thanks!
As noted by Pete59 we have one and it also has the non-resetting trigger on semi-auto. It's not a big problem though unless it gets worse.
I haven't got around to actually using it in "anger" yet but have tried it out in the back garden with both HFC Gun Power gas and ASG Ultrair Power Gas (neither of which seem to be particularly powerful but both cycle the bolt fine).
I can hit a tin can at 15 to 20m consistently with my No.4 Enfield which does 400fps with 0.2g bbs and leaves a small dent.
With the M2 I got 1 hit out of 2 magazines at the same distance and it barely marked the tin. The trouble was the hop just wasn't consistent with most of the shots drifting up by different amounts every time. I've now got to find out how to actually set the hop and have a fiddle around to see if I can improve things.
Also, I think I need to try this magic green gas the K98s were using last time.
Having said all that it is very nice, light and handy and if I can get it performing like the K98s it will definitely be getting an outing next time.
Just out of interest, you might want to hold on for the 6mm M1 Carbine that Marushin were supposed to be bringing out in March...
CHE,
I have an M2 `export` version ( this means it is designed to use greengas safeley). I did have a few teething problems.. fire selector not holding and a small pin in the nose of the hammer coming loose and jamming the bolt, but since these were sorted it`s been fine. The inaccuracy was awful until I sussed it. This rifle uses TWO hop units. The usual adjustable hop at the breech and a second(fixed ) hop about 1" from the muzzle. It is this second hop that causes shots to go wild. To fix it,simple remove the fixed hop, which is only a rubber ring with a dimple in it. Requires the inner barrel removed to do it but its reasonably simple to do.
Now I love my M2...!!!!

Flatrajectory - I can't even find the main hop-up adjuster, could you point me in the right direction please?
Also, does anyone know where to get this fabled magic green gas? Gas nomenclature/marketing/labelling seems quite incomprehensible but maybe it's just me.
Barrie,
If you pull back the cocking arm and lock the bolt open, looking into the breech end of the barrel on the upper surface you should see a small ( 2mm) cutout at the 12 o`clock position. You then insert the supplied allen key into the opening ( the allen key is about 1mm or 1.5mm ) , the hop adjusting screw is inset by about 8mm into the breech. It is a bit fiddly to locate the key into the screw, when you have, turn clockwise to increase the hop. I have found it to be very sensitive to slight adjustment , so go easy.

thats the best green gas I've found. as you mention barrie some say they are green and just arent. I bought ICS green in the past and it was shite. I ran my pistols and m1 carbine(before selling to pete) on the one linked above and its good stuff
Thanks Flat and Rhys.
I'm going to have a go at removing the second hop rubber from mine now to see if that improves it any.
I've now done Flatrajectory's mod and removed the secondary hop rubber.
Big difference - it's much more consistent now and making bigger dents in the tin cans.
Why oh why the designers decided to over-engineer it to be actually worse I'm not too sure but really good tip - thanks.
I also took the opportunity of tightening up all the screws on the mechanism (another Ftj tip) whilst it was in bits and hey-presto the trigger works perfectly now.
Cheers Ftj, you're a star!
Barrie,
I am only too pleased to be of help. I wrote a sort of review of my problems and answers with the M2 a while ago over on our sister site in America, it may still be on there. The problem with the second hop at the muzzle is this..... As you know the actuall bb is smaller in diameter than the barrel so as it spins it`s way up the bore it will also rotate slightly to the left or right ( depending how Round it is), now as it exits the barrel it comes into contact with the fixed hop which has its tip protruding in the TOP of the bore. Now if the bb is flying dead centre of the bore all well and good but if it hits the hop slightly left or right of centre it will spin off to one side or the other. Get it.???
If bbs fit the bore perfectly and were perfectly round the system would work but as we all know bbs are not perfect spheres and are always smaller than the bore of the barrel , ( to prevent jamming). I am about to try a replacement barrel in my M2 shortly and will post my results. This new barrel is slightly tighter than the original so may improve accuracy even more and it is wideley available at a cost of about £3.00.
Yes that is THREE quid. I WILL REPORT BACK SOON.

"REMEMBER, LIFE IS NOT A REHEARSAL"
Hi everyone, I got a Marushin M2 carbinea few weeks ago, and used it in an event last weekend. Sadly, during the event each of my mags would only hold enough gas for 2-3 shots. I think this may have been due to the weather being extremely wet and cold. I opened up the gun, cleaned it, reassembled it. I opened up several of the mags and replaced the O-ring seals. Sill, I am not able to get off more than 3 shots using green gas or propane. Does anyone have an idea of what my problem is?
Hi Spencerman,
Are you saying that the mag is leaking, or is it that you are not filling the mag with enough gas.??.
How many mags are we talking about.??
Are you using 134a gas, if so this may be your problem as mine does the same when the weather is cold, but it is fine on green gas.
It is unusual to get several mags leaking at the same time. So my feeling is that you are not filling them correctly or your gas bottle is near empty. Have you tried filling the mags from a different bottle.

I am thinking that the problem has something to do with how the gun is discharging the gas, probably releasing five or ten times more than it is supposed to per shot. The only other possibility would be that the extreme weather conditions affected the magazines' ability to hold gas which seems unlikely. I have 6 mags and I am not able to get more than 3 shots on any of them. Before this weekend though they all worked fine, so I know I can fill them up correctly. I have filled them up using multiple propane cans and a green gas can.
