hi all
have decided to start building a mg34 as the ' viva ' one has not materialized and does not seem that it will any time soon.
basically its going to be made from alluminium to give it a good balance between strength and weight, with exception to the r/s bipod and stock.
it will be built around an ak version 3 gearbox with an electric feed drum mag.
not much to look at at the moment but will keep updating pics as i go.
jay
be nice to see an MG34 too many '42s on the field nowadays!!!
What fields do you go to?
Looking good Jay. I'm sure it'll be every bit as good as your FG42.
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
couple more pics, put holes in barrel shroud.
You work fast!
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
If this ends up being a similar quality to your previous work I'm sure it will look amazing. I look forward to seeing it.
Jay if you get this right i will let you build me one!!!!!!!!
Keep up the good work.
Rob.
Lt. Morris Schaffer: "Second rate punk," eh?
Major John Smith: Sorry. All I could think of on the spur of the moment.
Lt. Morris Schaffer: Thanks, that makes it even worse.
cheers guys.
got some more done last night, started machining the receiver.
its starting to take shape but still plenty more to do and some quite fiddly bits aswell.
some piccies.
some more.
Damn the parts look fantastic, can't wait for more updates
cheers.
yes im an engineer by trade but its not my workshop, just manage to do bits in my breaks.
jay
That, Jay is a fine piece of work, I am sick with envy.
many thanks guys.
done a bit more to the receiver and also started on the trigger housing. the grip has been made slightly wider to take the motor which is not too noticable, but does mean that i will have to make some grips as the originals that i have are too narrow. next i will try and get it all put together and lined up,should be fun
and some more.
the parts look fantastic. Pete had to work on the trigger housing on the custom MG-42's due to the same reason.
Looks outstanding Jay!
“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."
Adolf Hitler, November 1942
"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."
Joseph Stalin, November 1942
a few more pics with the gearbox now in, starting to take shape.
Looks stunning Jay! There's something about a freshly milled block of aluminium that I find fascinating.
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
You really should go into business building yer own guns, that's looking awsome, and if the end product is anything like your sten, well, hats off to you sir!
I must say: Very impressive! Keep up good work!
Cracking work as usual Jay
Just a quick note (probably teaching grandma to suck eggs though!) that V3 'box (looks like one from a G36c - or possibly a UMP - to me) is fitted with a vented cylinder, so you'll have to fit an unvented one to match the sod-off length barrel that an MG34 will need. If you need a spare, gimme a shout - i've got loads of the buggers here to get shot of lol
