Hello all. I'm trying to fix John's MG42 but I'm not sure entirely what's going on. Initially we thought the feed motor wasn't working but it turns out it is with a heavy trigger pull. However, the gun doesn't seem to be firing bb's half the time even though I can hear the feed motor working. My only thought's are that the bb's are getting jammed or that the feed block that sits in the feed tray is moving out of position. Has anyone else had any similar problems?

The feed block tube (for lack of a better word) has been broken at some point (it's a second hand gun) and I'm thinking it is causing the problem. Will post a pic soon.

EDIT: picture added-- attachment is not available --

Regards,

Ralph

Yup that's the problem , I'd suggest drilling it out and glueing in another piece of tube of the correct size.

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......

Thanks for the response, mate. I'll get on it tomorrow and see what tubing they have at my local diy store.

Model shops often sell various sizes of brass tubing that I've used before ,failing that a piece of old AEG barrel if you have one ,if you get stuck let me know and I'll post you a bit of old barrel (I have loads of old barrels ),I'd need outside diameter and length .
