While on the quest for yet more guns I spoke today to Paul at Action Hobbies, he told me that A&K are currently developing an MG42.
Anyone else hear any thing about this. Time to search the tinterweb.
Probably a good idea, Although Paul did seem perrty convinced of it, A&K does seen to be an unusual choice as they are cloners. He did say he was too sure if he had the name right. Possibly an off shoot of the JG poll for new weapons. An MG42 was high on peoples lists after the usual AK and M4 suspects. Like we need more of them!
wasn't this reported a while back on Airsoftnews.eu?:
"China is full of surprises. Yul sent in pictures of what appears to be an AEG version of MG42. He tells me that the source is legit, so it is most probably not a hoax, but I'd still rather see a confirmation for the retailer (so stay tuned for either confirmation or rebuttal). It looks similar to Ultima MG42, but not quite the same. In the mean time, pictures will have to do. Click to supersize, with thanks to my well informed friend."

Pictured was actually an MG3 with OD stock and grips and horible RIS rail on top cover.
I think as Hopeless says, believe it when you see it!
“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."
Adolf Hitler, November 1942
"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."
Joseph Stalin, November 1942
I hope it's true.... but we had the false rumours about an MG34... then a springer K98.... keep your fingers crossed, chaps!
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
You can hardly call the "springer K98" a false rumour! We have it now, the Dboy's K98.
Regarding an MG42. I've got mixed feelings on it. As I've learnt its a bloody awkward gun to lug around - the MG34, although almost the same length feels a lot less bulky, and Paul @ AH reckons that there's an MG34 on the way for the end of the year...
When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........

Either works for me, I always prefer a support gunner role. God I love a good defence. Monte Cassino anyone?
Now i've upped my caffeine and nicotine levels to a point where I can think clearly, lets have a look at what we've got so far.
WE Luger - 95% copy of the Tanaka Luger, 'cept in metal
D-Boys K98 - 100% copy of the old Marushin spring powered K98
AGM MP40 - TOP MP40 with modded V3 and different hop unit and mags.
In all cases, the vast majority of the design work was done for them already - and designing the Hop and gearbox of the AGM MP40 isnt exactly the most difficult of things (or expensive in bulk production, when the 'boxes are die-cast) So what have *all* of these guns got in common?
Low cost....
So lets look at MG42/MG34.
There is NO electric MG34 to copy. That means a big investment in design - and a limited market to sell to. How many MG34's would get sold compared to the only obvious "support gun" competitor, the M249? (made in budget form by A&K). Very few i suspect. Considering that A&K/Dboys/JG etc etc are in the budget sector, and must be making more than enough money as it is from M4's/AK's, why would they take such a risk as making an item thats not going to have a massive appeal to the Airsoft community at large?
The MG42 might have a slightly wider appeal, but its still not going to sell as well as an M60/M249 - and it would require a considerable investment in fabrication equipment (one of the reasons why Shoei's MG42's, FG 42's and MP44's cost so much is due to their pressed steel/ally construction) Again, why take a risk by investing a considerable amount of money in production, when they can flog M4's/AK's with virtually zero risk.
Still, we wait and see. And i hope to be proved wrong, but *if* it does happen, then don't expect them to be anywhere near as cheap as the products we're currently seeing from these ACM companies...
I think Hopeless makes a good point. If a top-flight company like VFC said they were going to make either an MG34 or and MG42, then i'd believe it as they are set up for considerably smaller production runs than the likes of A&K and Dboys - plus, they have already shown their willingness to build WW2 guns on a high cost/low production run level with the BAR.

The funny thing about the cloners is they do some times surprise you. Many said no one would do a BAR. Couple that with the fact that the chinese do keep an eye on current trends, an MG34/ 42 turning up would not surprise me. What would surprise me would be if it was 100% usable out of the box. It was mentioned that shoei have made one, clone shoei anyone.
The trouble is that it's almost a scientific fact... the more expensive an airsoft gun is, the more likely you are to have problems with it!
Exhibit A - the Top MP40
Exhibit B - VFC BAR - ask Webby - he's had no end of problems
No further questions, your honour!
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
How long before we get a clone BAR? personally I would have one, flawed or not.
Hmmm i think that an MG34 or MG42 would be relatively easy to produce and would sell well. Variants of the MG42 are still in use so this would have a broad appeal and there are hundreds if not thousands of WW2 re-enactors across the world. This would make a good, cheap display or re-enactment gun as well. I think a lot of us would buy one from a collector perspective even if it didn't get a regular skirmishing. I'd love one and you're as likely to see me in a Hun uniform as the Pope in a burka.
Personally, a sten and M1 carbine are higher up my Wish List but hey, any additions to the WW2 airsoft family have to be welcomed IMHO!
I wouldn`t hold your breath folks, Paul at AH told my mate the very same thing back in late `06
this rumors been going for over a year. a while back there were even pictures posted round the forums of a supposed clone MG(made by Jing gong i think) and it was all over airsoftnews.eu but we've yet to see it arrive.
Crushed. still you never know. I do wonder what they will clone next. I migt drop matey from China on Arnies a PM. He might be able to shed some light on anything new and interesting.
And the rumour just keeps on going, Post on arnies, "My mate was talking to Paul from action hobbies" ect. I think we know the rest
i don't this that any concerns about quality can be too bad, if its gonna be priced about the same as the m249 clone then most people will just mod/correct any flaws themselves
Do you like my little tank?
AGM are making an MP44 and MG42, Pic will be on Arnies in the next few days. There release window will be approx 2 months.
For Sale " MY KIDS and one slightly used kidney"
Dboys are also making a gas Kar 98. its in testing so far. Oh thank you God for this beautiful day.
