Someone mentioned getting the AGM MP40 to have a gearbox assisted moving bolt similar to the kits available for AK's, well here's a video of someone who's done it on a Thompson

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0x2UaqiInqk :D

And here's the thread where he explains how he did it

http://www.airsoftforum.com/board/index ... opic=59192

I can't see any reason it couldn't be done on the MP40

I second waffman, That would be very sweet, but I wouuldnt like to try it on a new TM, Sounds like a job for a second hand or CYMA/AGM Thompson.

i looked into this on my ak,

the guy at zero one, told me its basicly grinding a slot in your gearbox near the spring/piston, and attaching either to the bolt.

but its a full strip dpwn, so i wont be trying till my mp40 "DIES", then ive nothing to loose :)

I did like the second idea, this one:

There is a hole at the back of my gearbox, but the spring guide doesn't have a hole at the front of it.
Not too happy about drilling holes into my tommy.

If you were going to do the second idea, it would be best to use a systema brass spring guide and drill a hole in the end (if it doesn't already have one) and shim the tapering internal with a nice phosphor-bronze bushing. Use a piece of stainless rod for the push-rod and the rest is up to you! I'd use a small brass 90 dergree rod coupler to make the L-bar on the end of the push-rod. Mabey the old style of Meccano rod couplers would work.

And there was me thinking of using a spare barrel cleaning rod and a bit of sticky tape.

...

...no seriously. The rod fits rather nicely :)

I fitted the official blowback kit ot a Star SA80 . It blew the gear box casing on the first outing . In retrospect it's just more to go wrong, I'm, not sure I'd bother again .

I think this is a marushin model kit or something or one of those old blowback mp40s by the way the thompson clone is out in the market now to do de blowback on it :)

It is worth thinking about for thrill factorwith the cheep clone on both the MP40 and the Thompson but Not on a pricey gun as you are essencially adding weeknesses and extra stress points that will go wrong.
