Inspired by heffalump51, ( viewtopic.php?t=258&start=60 ), I started on my MP44, still lots to do but here's a picture of all the bits laid out to get an idea of what it's going to look like.

Just got to wait my turn for one of Warrens front ends ![]()

Very nice mate. ![]()

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
cool job thats raised the bar for us all! ![]()
Did you make the butt?

Free speech is expensive these days!

I got the butt on ebay, it's supposedly a genuine un-issued one but I suspect that it's a repro, but I'm not bothered as what I paid for it was about the same as getting a repro from the states and it came with the metal fittings.
The hand grips are repro's from the states they cost me about $15 plus P&P from here; http://www.e-gunparts.com/DisplayAd.asp ... erSKU=&MC=

Hey Guys we are off the hook here is a link to an mp44 site which shows a SHORT (9round) magazine!

Tell us more Neil, I didn't know you were making one as well . Looks like a lot of fibreglassing going on there , or have you sold your soul to Warren to get an early front end ?
hi yes i sold my soul to warren for one of his front ends... the hand grip is made using an ak47 handle fibregalssed and glued thinly to the hk 33 grip, (measure fifty times - cut once), then I traced the finger guard shape from my mp40 ont 2 pices of plasticard and after filing the trigger guard flat on either side glued them on and filled them in with filler to make the more ww2 shape, the beauty of this is that the original trigger guard is still intact underneath it giving it strength.
all the indents are made with plastic card glued on the sides of the hk after filling the triangular shaped holes, there is a fair amount of filling and sanding going on warrens front end is not exactly smooth so i have gone for the battered look which also serves to disguise my shoddy workmanship:oops:
Just waiting for a stock to arrive from my friend tim the joiner.... Hopefully with a fair bit of luck and a following wind i will have it on sunday. found a site which had some piccies of a short mag for the mp44 so havent bothered with a real steel mag yet.

Very good ! Bring it up to Arnhem , I'd be keen ot have a close look . Have you thuoght anything about colouring, I struggled with silver and then washed with black, but the whole thing need re doing. Did you base it on the classic army one ?
i used the chinese one.... i also did the silver first thing then when i sprayed black over it went all blotchy so then i wiped it down with some panel cleaner, it looks ok my son went "good look dad" so it must be OK
I see what i think of it over a couple of days. The only thing with warrens front end is it is quite chunky where it fits over the mag well. otherwise its great.

Does the grip handle align the motor or is it held in a seperate cage like the TM AK47 , I've been stuck with not swapping the handle because of that .
What with you , me , Pete and Hefflump we could start an MP44's owners club. Mind you with luck Ernie will bring the Daddy of Mp44s down to Arnhem - the Shoei ( exquisite!)
its half a seperate cage, ie it only goes down the front... i dont want to see the shoei until i can afford one...

Not sure if this is the right place to put this.
I have a friend who is a very talented jloiner and he is making me an mp44 stock out of beech.
It is based on an actual one we have managed to find. the only difference is that it will be especially adapted to fit the stock mounting plate on the hk33. (you know the little black metal housing thing that the plastic stock attaches to) and hollowed out to take a battery
This was going to be made as a one off for me but he was saying it would be as easy to make a jig and run off 10 of them so I am guaging interest. obviously the metal work would be an unscrewable plate with no trapdoor to allow battery access. we were thinking in terms of 25 quid a throw. Please PM me for interest, and if anyone has a CA metal thingy i can borrow to use to make the stock fit them i would be grateful.

Bastards refused ot sell me any as exporting semi auto parts without a firearms liscence is verbotten ![]()
Wierd... I've had after market semi-auto pistol grips direct from the US in the past.
No idea then , but that's what they said ![]()
I think it is because of the American 'patriot act'.
However, different sellers interpret it in different ways. I bid on a synthetic stock for a ruger a few days back, one vender was happy to ship it to the UK, another would not because of legal reasons. Perhaps you might try buying the grips from another seller?
