got bored this weekend and started playing,i took the smoke generator from a radio controlled tank, some high brightness led's a micro switch and strapped them all to my bren.

all a bit of a lash up at the moment but the smoke generator and led's (one white one yellow)in an extended muzzle cone, made a piggy back deans connector between the battery and gearbox to run the smoke generator (switch-able),placed the micro switch above the cut off lever on the side of the gearbox to make the led's flash and run off a two aa battery box.

Heh, that's cool!
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Brilliant right so the smoke generator connects to the guns battery from the triggered feed? and the led from its own battery operated by a microswitch? can you explain a bit more for us thicko's
Your mad gav
Now that would be incredible in a low light game, you'd really get the effect when it's shooting at you!
There have been a few of these type things going around for a while now. You could butcher one of these into your gun.

i was thinking about tracer units when i thought of this.there's no great science behind this so ere we go.
you will need
1 heng long rc tank smoke generator or similar
2 micro switch, smallest one you can get
3 small switch, again as small as possible
4 some thin wire
5 soldering iron
6 heat shrink tube or insulating tape
7 super bright led (yellow is best)
8 super glue
9 double sided tape (for speed(not really needed))
firstly you have to strip the smoke generator, they come all enclosed with a motorized bellows thing, all you need is the element witch is a resistive wire wrapped in a wick ,once you have the element and wick out you will need to fashion some form of muzzle cone,at the front of the cone there must be a lip on the lower edge to stop the smoke fluid escaping, into the bottom of the cone need be fitted the element from the smoke generator and the led ,they must be fitted so the element is at the bottom at the front with the led behind, they must not be in line with the bb's.run wires through the inner barrel if there is space and into the gun,now i ran the smoke generator wires to a back to back pair of deans connectors that can be plugged in between the battery and gearbox,i also fitted a small switch as well so i can turn the smoke off without stripping the gun,i didnt run it from the trigger switch because it takes a little time to heat up and get going but you could try it,there's no real need for trigger activation as a smoking barrel after firing looks good imho .now the tricky bit is the led switch,im lucky that i've got a version 6 gearbox in the bren and they have the lever that cuts of the trigger switch when using semi on the outside in a really convenient place and i was able to glue the micro switch above it,most micro switches have a spring steel bar to activate the switch and i just bent it to adjust the switching position, this makes the led flash once per bb but critically not timed well enough to run a tracer unit as it re-sets the switch after firing a shot,it may work out to work well enough but that would be by chance not design, then run the led of a two aa battery box.
the smoke element is designed to run of 7.2v and run well on 9.6v however 11.1v lipo's will kill it fast,my next plan is to install a 3v and 9v voltage regulator's to run the led of the main battery and ensure the smoke generator doesn't burn out.

Was the smoke intended?
Either way it's a nice side effect.
The smoke was from an RC tank smoke generator
That would be it.
Bad...Ass.
That is very clever if not slightly mad, it'll be superb for those winter games on dark grey afternoons.
