Evening all

After falling foul of my own obsession for tinkering with my original "can a m14 be a m1 carbine" post I've now been trawling around the net looking at m1 garand parts considering making one of those from a m14 when I thought about getting a enfield from Warren. However when I saw my bank balance that went out the window and im back at the drawing board.

I was browsing through RSOV's site and noticed their AGM VSR clones are only

The guy who does the M14 to Garand conversions has also done some of these, he's done it two different ways one way was using an original springfield stock and the other using the stock that came with the rifle. I'll post a link if I can find the thread again.

thanks pete that link would be much appreciated

I looked at cutting the cost down (so I could maybe make some for others if it was sucessful) by using the current stock but I cant see how it could easily be done as the VSR stock is considerably shorter than the springfield stock at the front.

You could maybe join some wood to the front via inventive joining/filling etc but it wouldnt be very easy. that being said neither is sourcing a cheap springfield stock hehe

BTW, I would be cautious about using the M14-Garand conversion guy - I finally saw one of his efforts up close and I have to say I wasn't impressed.

oh I wont be using him. I'll be doing it all myself :) if it works out ok I may produce a few more for friends etc. the biggest problem is sourcing of the lower stock so far. theres plenty of handguards/stock caps at cheap prices but not many cheap stocks

I've 2 people happy to send to the UK. must just be lucky. unfortunatly no luck with sending lower stocks here yet but i've a few friends in the US that will mail it on for me happily and the sellers are happy to ship it to them so im onto a winner.

finding a barrel bands proving a nightmare though. managed to find one front stock cap so far. the smaller parts are proving harder to source. and finding a diagram with the stock bits included is proving impossible. theres lots of drawings showing the action but none with the stock included.

It just looked well below the standard I would have expected. It looked like someone had just bodged it together. If I was paying that much, I'd expect a helluva better job than that.

We just need to point the AGM factory in the right direction so they can do a 98K based on the Mp-001 mechanisim, lets hope they are reading this thread, who thought 12 months ago we would get a affordable MP40?

well how blooming annoying. getting a stock is like trying to get blood from a stone. Those e-gun chaps want 200+ dollars for one and the other people I found who will ship to me want 12 weeks to make one! lunacy.

Anyone have any ideas about where I can get one besides ebay?
