Love the inclusion of the frog trying to muscle in on the vid
Yes normally it is just the cat but now I have a wanabe Kermit to contend with
I was using one of these in the vid for the first time.

You can tape them on your gun but I just held it with my left hand, you can here the audio change when I say the battery is running down.
They can also be used for in Tank video
However working out when the damn thing is recording confuses me.

Do you use Lipo batteries in your guns Oddball?
The charge sapping blowback might not be such an issue with Lipo's.

No mate all standard NMH but my point is this would not happen with the blowback off as the battery I used in this would last a long time in a standard AEG, I should have said that in the video.
No battery or charger comes with the gun either but that is ok as most of them that come with a gun are junk.
Also no sling with it so my sling was purchased on eBay same as most of my other items
If it was a closed piston standard system like the M14 etc there would also be less chance of dirt and grit getting into the system as well.

You know you say the cover bears down on the false bolt, so keeping the piston peg in the false bolt cut out? Is there undue friction between the two due to a close fit, one piece rubbing on the other? If so, could this be alleviated by lube?
Yes I noticed that in your vid. The ROF really improved with the EBB turned off but would be interesting to see if a 7.4v Lipo brought the ROF back up with the EBB turned on, just for owners who like EBB and would want to use that feature of the gun (like me!)
Maybe the NiMh doesnt have a high enough discharge rate to turn the main spring as well as the EBB spring/weight of the bolt?
Anyway it is a side point - good review
I might get one next month, if they are still available at that price.

Good point I would say some lube would help but as I just posted in my edit grit can also get in a system like this and lube can some times bind grit / sand in.
Don't get me wrong the blow back is a nice idea but I think I would be just as happy if not more so if it wasn't there
PS I will post your LYPO suggestion as a note on the video thanks.

Graphite was suggested to me as a less "sticky" lube a long time ago... perhaps that would be better?

You have the HP stick with it

Hey there.
Looking to purchase one of these. Can anyone give me a durability report on this? Just curious how this gun has lasted after a few games. Also, what gears, springs, cylinders and pistons are compatable with these things?
Thanks!
Too new to say yet I suspect what ever the Aries has this will have.
The gun is quite solid the mag did drop out once in my garden and the internal flex spring BB feed fell out but that was all and fixed in 5 min with an alen key.

I have just been informed that the Aries mag well is also made of alloy and painted so this ST is a good clone of the Aries
So the HP is the model to have in my book but the ST is a close second on price.

ahhh, u saw my video and commented on it didn't you However, the Alloy seems to be rock solid
Also, I believe that the ROF is higher on the Ares than on the ST

ROF in WW2 airsoft isn't so important, I like a slow ROF compared to many as it saves on amo wastage we have amo limits in games normaly about 600 rnd.
If you fit a 9.6V in the ST the ROF is far too fast in my opinion so I will stick with a 8.4 but at 2000mah with the blow back off.
Yes the alloy is more than tough enough for the job on both guns, but I prefer blued steel when I can like the HP model is.
However the ST is good for the price unless as you have been lucky enough to buy the Aries at near half its normal price
As I said on youtube thanks for being honest in your review and stating that the Aries was also alloy in parts.
I can see why Aries didn't show how they were making the mag well when they were about to release the gun. Also all the metal that holds the gearbox the lower receiver inside the stock, seems to be the same alloy as the mag well.
What you see in this picture is the only steel parts on the Aries and ST.
I think you will find the sling mount in the stock is alloy not plastic as I thought it may have been as I scratched some paint off on the ST to check

had its first outing today! was awesome put up against all those M4 monkeys. Had a massive smile on my face all day with the blowback going and found a three quarter size battery fits ace and never even came close to running out. Also double thumbs up to the drum mag never skipped a beat.
Plus everyone was asking plenty of questions, seems to me they are all jealous.
Yep its great value worked out about £205 total with P&P + TAX

Thanks but I haven't got my Papasha in arms reach as it's still in the shop. I'll check when I get it back. That picture really is a clue that the mag well is alloy but didn't you say that the barrel was alloy? The barrel is in the picture for some reason. The only thing that lets down the HP is the mag capacity and the price of each mag, the size of the grip, the bad measurements of the mag, no stick mags and the wood is way too dark in my opinion. It's still a nice wallhanger though

You know I suspect that the barrels in that photo may be alloy see how they are brighter than the other steel parts.
Many people on here have sorted their HP guns out and they work well as far as I know.
There are or have been 2 mag capacities made for the HP the first was a 2000 I think then due to people wanting lower a smaller cap has been made.
This is the battery I am now using in mine.

Really? If so great, but I got one of the first PPSh's and it only came with the 500rd mag. Unless of course you are talking about the lo cap that has been made since.

I thought the first ones had a bigger cap than that

only DarkLite's mag was the 2000rd prototype drum. Then at the VERY beginning of production they changed it to 1000rd but then I spose because it's china, they wanted to vomit out PPSh's for cheaper but for the same price so that they would make extra money from people buying spare drums so they lowered it to 500-600. That's obviously why because with a business like HP, it would all be about the money.

my st--ppsh works fine..............only problem i had is that we had to slightly file the stick mags a bit to fit/click into the mag well.............they were very very tite and needed slamming to go in.
after careful filing they go in out a lot better and less wear an tear on the ppsh.
the drum mag wich came with it did not have that problem.
the aeg sten we bought had similar mag fitting needed.............is this type of fitting common among airsoft guns in general ?
