Recently ordered some more parts from Taiwangun. Just to make up the order, I ordered some little mags that fit a double eagle shotgun M401, (the gun itself is amazingly cheap!) at a cost of £1.42 each these are a bit larger in depth than the “mossberg” type I bought and used previously, they take 18-20 bb’s. These almost fit as they are in an M14 haven’t tried them in anything else at the moment, but as a little mag that could easily be disguised as something akin to ww2 mags to fit project guns.
I’ve no doubt that someone has found these before, but they’re a new find to me......and cheap!

Nice just right for G43 German rifle
I agree, almost perfect for a G43 conversion, I’ve now done one to fit right, I was supposed to be cutting wood for winter fires, but the weather has put paid to that,.....plus I’d rather Pratt around with my pop guns anyway!
Using some 3mm thick plastic card (bought from eBay, of course) stuck on a little tab at the back, so that the M14 mag catch will hold it. Just that and the mag worked OK, but I wanted a little tab at the front too, just to hold it more secure made it like a horseshoes shape from a bit of 1.8 plas card, and the filed it down until it clipped in snug. Just before I did this I filed down the feed ring at the top, to stop any wobble. You can see this in the pic’s.
I used super glue to fix this, I’m not sure if that’s the best glue to use, but it seems to work fine. Roughed up the the surfaces a bit before glue application. This took about 3/4 of an hour ( and a cup of tea, of course!) to do. There is still a bit of side gap, but it doesn’t seem to matter, can always glue on a bit of card later, if I think it needs it.
Anyway loaded the mag, fired 16 pellets, no misfires, 4 stay in the tube. I have some shorty M14 mags as well, but they were expensive, this little conversion is a cheap alternative, with minimum fettling time to make them work. I will be ordering some more of these.
These mags of course could be sleeved to look like a completely different mag altogether, I’m attempting to make an M1 carbine based on the M 14 platform, so will probably use these mags to look something like the straight 15 round mag that they use.
Make that 14 out of the mag, 4 in the tube, from a full mag. Already had some up the tube first time!
