oh yes many a darlek has remained un harmed by a sterling in the hands of men under command of the brigadear he will be sadly missed
(he was in an episode of the sarah jane cronicles recently),not to mention the many other monsters and aliens similarly un halmed by the good men in unit.not a ringing endorsement of the sterlingn really ![]()

trigger guard is only temporary one to get the shape correct,i cant use the standard shape as ive had to morph the shape of the trigger houseing to fit the gearbox.i'll remake it in heavier guage when im happy with the shape.

put a bit of paint on the pistol grip and fitted the pivot points for the stock and shortened the inner barrel because it was getting in the way and anoying me.

Great work Gav
Brings back memories of the RMP Falklands era which it was our main weapon totaly useless over 100m but great when used by Imperial Storm Troopers

Well indeed. I'm going for the 70/80s loadout and it will compliment the SLR.
dadio mate - I did go and see the deact one a few weeks ago and took some pics - the damn things would not upload for some reason so apologies for not getting details of the bayonet lug/stock folding to you.
BTW the last time i held one was in the ACF aboiut 30 years ago (they wouldnt let us fire it unfortuintely) - i cant believe how light and tiny they are!
I'm a hero with coward's legs.

now that its comeing together a bit i have to agree its tiny ,it makes my sten look large, ive just baught a battery to test and it was hard finding anything that would fit,my first plan is to have the battery behind the gearbox but the space there is at most 75mm long and 35mm circumference .so the only battery that would fit is a fairly low capacity (850mah)11.1v lipo,my second choice for location is below the barrel but that would be visible through the holes in the barrel shroud so not ideal in my eye's.hopefully the tiny lipo will be good enough even if you need 2 for a full day,it was only £13.95 delivered so 2 wont break the bank.i can supply an aditional batt and charger at cost if you need them,i'll throw in one battery with the gun at the original cost we have agreed ,or i can point you in the right direction for a reaasonable cost lipo charger.

I think I'll go for the extra batt and charger included mate. On a related/ unrelated topic, Zero Bravo kindly gave me an almost complete set of wood furniture for an SLR (when i bought his). I actually quite like the placcy feel, so its surplus to requirements. I have the stock, pistol grip and carrying handle. Anyone interested before it goes on fleabay?
Cheers

the sterling was my personal weapon for 2 years
i loved it, the best gun i ever used bar none. not for performance, but for pure fun
our apwt (anual personal weapons test) considered of fireing 4 x 32 round mags, at full auto , from the hip, at a figure 11 target, at 30 metres
no one took it seriously, we just used our ammo alowance as quick as possible, to change rounds in to empty brass and knock off early.
great gun and great fun.
i once put a 32 round mag and fixed fireing pin bolt, into a sterling para pistol, (a cut down , 4 inch barrel sterling, with no stock, semi auto only)
so it was a micro sterling, full auto with 32 rounds of hot loaded 9mm. what a fooking muzzle flash.
ah the good old days, i miss the army sometimes, i really do.
"Take that you rotton helping of strawberry flan!"
Joseph Porta to "strawberrys and cream", in the sven hassel book ,ogpu prison
ahem well that battery seems more than good enough, may try the 7.2v version to conserve ammo a little as these will be mid cap mag's,its a loud little thing to be sure,i supose that's to be expected with so little bodywork.now just got to finish the reciever and i can have a test shoot.

selecter fitted and working between semi and full auto ,no safety yet.just out of interest i thought i'd post up a pic of the battery my first mp5 had when i started airsoft, note the mah rating ,next to it is the battery for the sterling, mad isn't it ,well at least i think so.

me either untill i started reaserching sterlings, pretty cool.i asume "hot load" means a higher than normal charge in the shell ,doesent bare thinking about with something so small.i haven't started work on the third gun body yet if you want one instead, but with a barrel that short it would be no more accurate than a pistol, not a verry good airsoft gun really but its you'r £'s .by the way that one in the "you tube" clip had the crincle finish paint that i found and plan to use.i started work on the second gun main body ,a second trigger housing and experimental reciever today.planning on doing some more catch up on the other two gun's now that the prototype has proved good, then i'll move on again but for a little while there wont be mutch to see.

oh no mate - I want a proper one. Yes the crinkly paintwork is what I remember from the cadets - reminiscent of anti-climb paint! I think the smooth paintwork ones may be police issue?
Fabulous work mate!

i'll be quite good at these by the time im finished,at last some pictures prooving im makeing three guns, just got to finish the third body, finish the second trigger houseing and make a third trigger houseing, then i can move on to the mag-well's ,stocks, end cap's and finally all the twidley bits like sights and sutch.

Splendid work sir! I' ll post you one of the lo cap mags to see if they are any good, given the ROF they may not be.
I'm a hero with coward's legs.

im sure the mag's will be usefull even if they are only lo-cap's .

one more trigger housing to go and the fire selecta's then onto the mag-wells,i've finally come to a solution im happy with on the design of the mag-wells.i've been trying to work out how to do the mag release catch, the original mag's like the sten have the catch indent on the bottom side as seen when fitted but mp5 mag's have the indent on the other side
,now i want to use unmodified mp5 mags that way we can buy as many as we like and just use them, rather than haveing to modify each mag before useing them or changing the way the release catch is used whitch i dont want to do either and i've finally sorted it out
but as i dont have a scanner you will see when i make one.oh and i need to re-shape the pistol grips as well.

first two up the same level of construction, one to go.note the slight change to the selecta lever to a more accurate design, going to replace the one on the prototype as well when i get the chance.

also tried out a 7.4v lipo today and it reduces the rate of fire to a more realistic cycle rate and i'll probably use it on mine bearing in mind its mid-cap mag's,vince wants his maxed out so 11.1v for him,Simon it's up to you what you want but you have a sten so you now how fast 100rnds go.
also managed to get some tiny low voltage warning buzzers that will fit inside, essential for li-po's and included in the price.

finally all three to the same state with working selecta switches and also started the mag-wells,they are just resting in place and have no catches yet but it is progress.
