That guy has some serious talent
However, i dont think you would be able to dis-assemble them so how you would fix it if it broke i have no idea

I was thinking that a wooden clamshell style grip could be made that would be more slender than the Thompson grip.
width wise the thompson grip is only about 1mm wider than the motor cage and motor ,there is scope for removeing more material at the front and back of the grip but i cant see any great reduction in width being possible unless fitting a more slimline motor and cage ,it was allways going to be a compromise in the design and would have been the same regardless of gearbox choice unless i used a ptw gearbox and doubled the cost of the build...

I'd have thought an AK grip would be closer in shape to the original, but would probably be harder to fit to the Thompson GB.
the ak grip is probably a better shape and certainly the thompson ones needed quite a bit of re-modeling but one of the advantages was that it mounted with a single m5 screw in the bottom where it was discreet,it also meant that due to the internal shape of the grip i could use it to secure the whole trigger houseing assenbly complete with stock pivot ,just one screw and the grip comes off ,it also means the trigger houseing then just slides off as well makeing for ease of maintenance and its far more robust than you would think because its all supported internally by the gearbox so there's verry little stress on the screw.
