Now that I have sold every gun with the exception of my elderly AGM MP40, I think it may be time to get it serviced / upgraded. Is there a reputable dealer that will do this for me?
I have no interest or aptitude in mucking about with gun internals myself.
Thanks Tristan.
I was also mulling over the idea of some electronic shenanigans to drop the RoF to somewhere nearer that of a real MP40.
A torque-up gear set will reduce the ROF. You would probably have to go 300% or MAX torque-up to reduce it significantly. I reduced the ROF on my TOP/PGC MP40 by doing exactly that!
“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."

"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."

5. Cylinder, so thing will increase your FPS and can also increase or decrease your FPS, say if you got a heavier metal cylinder your get a higher FPS just slower RoF, but this will last for ever! But make sure the rest of the gun can function with it. Again your going to have to ask the dealer about which is the best for your gun.
I'm guessing you mean piston - the cylinder will have no effect on ROF, but can, depending on model, effect FPS. The piston itself won't effect FPS, it's just a good quality piston head and seal that does that.

Isn't there something called a MOSFET that can adjust RoF? That's about as technical as I get
I've upgraded 5 MP40s multiple times and here's my take and word of caution:
1) The gearboxes are brittle
2) Do not go past an SP120/PDI190 spring
3) Do not use bearing busings (these will increase your ROF) (besides the mP40 only comes in 6mm bushings and it is not a good idea to have 6mm bearing bushings as these break very easily)
4) Have the mp40 hop-up mod done or replace hop up chamber all together with a version 3 hop (will work wonders)
5) Do not, under any circumstances (even at the behest of "expert" gunsmiths) use metal cylinder heads. (these will smash the brittle mp40 gearbox open) I've seen this happen too many times
6) Have a sorbo pad installed - this will prolong the life of your gearbox and fix the AOE of the gears
7) Have your gunsmith do the corner cut mod an the cylinder cutout of the gearbox shell. Also to prolong it's life.
Replace your motor...mainly because the china motor it comes with sucks.

any chance you could explain these a bit more? not heard of them
shenanigans lol love that word! Well the only think I can't think of sat he half asleep is to add some resistance to the circuit to drop the RoF.
Don't use a resistor - it seriously wastes power, makes a lot of heat, and is generally bad.
A Microcontroller driven MOSFET is the way to go there.
Here ya go:

I've found these mods really helpful in prolonging the life of the brittle MP40 gearbox.
Radiusing the corners of the cylinder cutout is an old Version 2 gearbox trick thats been around for donkeys years. It reduces the possibility of a crack propagating from these areas (which used to be a bit of a problem with big springs + version 2 gearboxes).
